The turquoise waters of the Bahamas are teeming with vibrant marine life just as much as they are with exclusive sun-soaked havens — each with its own vibe and reachable exclusively by cruise ship. The newest addition is Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, the second private island destination from Disney Cruise Line.
Perched on the southernmost tip of the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, Lighthouse Point is surrounded in natural beauty — from otherworldly eroded cliff faces along the ocean to curvy coves hugging almost-neon waters and blushing, pink-sand beaches. It was already an enchanting place even before the vision of two iconic local artists and the touch of one renowned Disney Imagineer brought the spirit of the Bahamas to magical new heights.

A Celebration of Bahamian Culture
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is infused with colorful architectural elements inspired by both the local culture and living nature of the island itself. It was designed in partnership with the local creative community, including master artists Kevin Cooper from Eleuthera and Antonius Roberts from Nassau, who teamed up with Joe Rohde — the renowned Disney Imagineer and creative leader behind Disney’s Animal Kingdom — to create a unique island experience rooted in Bahamian tradition and dusted with Disney magic.
Visitors’ first glimpse of the island is the impressive Mabrika Cove. “Mabrika” translates to “welcome” in Taino, the language of the Indigenous Lucayan people of the Bahamas. From here, guests can explore local stories brought to life by Bahamian artists, thinkers and community members through musical experiences, island cuisine, Junkanoo parades and vibrant artistic representations of native flora, fauna and folklore characters.

Spaces for Everyone
It’s to be expected that Disney’s newest island caters heavily to kids and families with a variety of fun games and activities, an interactive water park, a dedicated family beach and kid-centric dining and play areas. What might come as a surprise are the many adults-only areas, like the adult-exclusive beach, complete with private day cabanas, an adults-only market-style dining venue and three kid-free bars — which is how we usually expect them, but the extra assurance is always nice, especially for parents who could use a quiet moment to themselves.
Across the island, amenities range from water playgrounds to nature trails, personal watercraft and bike rentals, an adventure camp, a gaming pavilion and multiple sports courts, dining and shopping venues, a cultural center and plenty of pristine beaches. Whether you’re young or just young at heart, the island offers options for everyone to relax and enjoy the spirit of the Bahamas, however it best suits them.

Honoring the Ecosystem
Developed with a commitment to conservation at its core, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point was designed for visitors to be able appreciate and respect the diverse natural environment — home to more than 100 bird species, 130 marine species and 200 plant species.
Less than 20% of the land will be developed, with zero coral reefs impacted by the marine facility footprint. The open-trestle pier and marina was designed in a way that didn’t require dredging, while elevated walkways reduce impact to the forest floor. Disney has committed to sending zero waste to landfill and pledged that no less than 90% of the port’s electricity will be provided by on-site solar power.
Furthermore, Disney Cruise Line is donating more than 190 acres of privately owned land to the people of the Bahamas and granting locals full access to the island’s amenities. Their dedication to responsible tourism will create sustainable economic opportunities for Bahamians, protect and sustain the natural beauty of the site and celebrate the unique culture of this spectacular Bahamian destination for all who visit.
