“Our advisor was able to narrow down the choices based on what she knew about us and what we were looking for. Working with an advisor who specializes in destination weddings gave us confidence not only in our travel plans, but also the details of our most special day were handled by a professional. Eloping with a big reception later was right for us, being a perfect blend of an intimate exchange of vows and big party vibes.
“On the day of our wedding, we had room service delivered before we headed down to the beach for mimosas under our designated cabana. We even enjoyed lunch under the cabana before heading up to the room to get ready. It was such a relaxed and pampered way to spend what is often described by others as a whirlwind day. Our faith is important to us, and the resort connected us with a minister who aligned with our values and really made it personal.
“It was as uncomplicated as we had hoped. Our travel advisor had prepared us well, and the wedding team on site was fabulous. We had to make a few simple decisions when we first arrived, and they took care of executing everything else to perfection. We only had to show up when they told us! My punny husband would like it noted, ‘I found it odd they served us cantaloupe when we were there to elope.’”
Expert Tip: Destination weddings allow you to focus on each other, not all the little details.

“We took a Mediterranean cruise, and our wedding took place during one of the stops. We selected the Sicilian location for its stunning views of both the land and the sea. It was just a short ride from the cruise port, the staff was truly incredible and the food is still being raved about. What we loved most was that once the wedding ended, we still had an entire week to celebrate with our loved ones. We got to experience the beauty of a wedding in Italy, while also enjoying a full vacation together. After having a destination wedding, I can honestly say there is nothing quite like it.”
Expert Tip: Consider developing a custom website where guests can request a quote, book and make payments.

“You don’t often travel with your entire group of loved ones, and it turned out to truly be the best week of our lives! We wanted a very specific date — 2/26/26 — because it’s a cool date and also our 13th anniversary. A few of the personalized touches we included were specialty drinks in stamped coconuts for the rehearsal dinner, a choreographed first dance and a tequila wall that served as a seating chart. I feel like we spent as much as we would have on a wedding back home, but we spent an entire week celebrating with our favorite people making memories that will last forever and not just eight hours! Anytime we had guests that had a lot of travel questions or hotel questions, we could just refer them to our travel advisor; this really alleviated the stress of wedding planning.”
Expert tip: Have fun and trust your loved ones to help you out whether it’s carrying your dress or cooling you with a mini-fan, they are there because they love you!
