Imagine your Mexican Destination Wedding

Los Cabos is drenched in sunshine and sultry vibes. Often shortened to the playful mononym “Cabo,” you’ll find a wealth of luxurious pursuits, including top-shelf entertainment and legendary cuisine, making it the kind of town that loves to spoil you. So how would you piece together the ideal wedding weekend in Cabo? Here are some ideas to tempt you, along with the appropriate amount of time you’ll need to set aside.

Spa Visit — 3 Hours

The good people of Cabo possess many ways to spoil your body, replenish your soul and ease your mind. More than a dozen upscale spas are spread throughout the city, many with relaxing, panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez.

Mexico’s rich history inspires the spa treatments here. Many spas offer temazcal ceremonies that use the healing powers of earth, fire, water and air to balance your body, mind and spirit. These transformative ceremonies are held in darkened dome-like structures where water is poured on hot, volcanic stones to create an aromatic steam bath. As your pores open and circulation improves, you are led through a series of ancient chants to connect with powerful forces of the spiritual world. You may lose track of time during the ceremony, but you will definitely emerge feeling grounded and cleansed.

Our top choice: Head to Blanc Spa, found at Le Blanc Spa Resort, where you can enjoy a wood therapy massage, a brand-new treatment that uses a variety of wooden tools to shape, tone and improve circulation.

Decadent Dining — 4-6 Hours

Whether you’re a sophisticated foodie or simply someone who appreciates authentic flavors, the internationally renowned culinary scene of Cabo will surpass all your expectations. Thanks to it being on the doorstep of the Pacific Ocean, seafood is often off-the-boat fresh and on your plate in a matter of hours.

To enjoy fresh catches with a view, head to El Farallon, a popular spot tucked into a rocky beachfront that presents a daily “Baja bounty” mixed grill selection of red snapper, sea bass, yellowfin tuna and jumbo shrimp. Los Tres Gallos is the place to go for traditional Mexican, focusing on local classics like pozole, mole enchiladas and stuffed green peppers. For tacos, head to Tacos Gardenias, a family-run establishment that specializes in Baja classics like fish tacos and shrimp cocktail. Their tacos stuffed with cochinita pibil (juicy marinated pork) are particularly popular in the morning for the post-surf crowd.

Our top choice: For a lunch your wedding party will not soon forget, try the rooftop location of Baja Brewing Company, where you can feast on the popular basil-blue cheeseburger paired with the Por Favor Mexican IPA or Baja Razz raspberry ale, all while looking out over the sea.

Golf Outing – 3 Hours

For some, golf is a relaxing form of therapy paired with a leisurely hike around some manicured gardens. For others, it’s an endless pursuit for perfection and precision. Whichever camp you fall into, Cabo will give you plenty of options to indulge. Golf Digest described the area as “the type of golf destination that will make you wonder if it’s the best you’ve ever visited.” If that wasn’t enough, they claim that seven of the top 15 golf courses in all of Mexico are in the Los Cabos area, with four actually topping that list.

It helps that these world-class courses were designed by world-class talents such as Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman and Tiger Woods. It also helps that these fairways often wind along breathtaking beaches and stunning seaside cliffs, giving you plenty of wonderful distractions to blame your double bogey on.

Our top choice: Send the golfers in the group to Cabo del Sol, which was designed by Tom Weiskopf — the master of desert golf — to twist through canyon-like arroyos with a striking mountain backdrop.

Connect with Nature — 6 Hours

The desert meets the sea at Cabo, making it a magical place to enjoy both the stark austerity of the desert along with stirring ocean waters and dramatic rock formations. Speaking of rock formations, El Arco, the Arch, never fails to disappoint you or your camera, especially when the sea lions bask in the sun on nearby Lovers Beach.

Bigger animals await out in the gorgeous Sea of Cortez, so get everyone to board a catamaran and head out to spot whales. During whale-watching season — from January to March — you are practically guaranteed to spot a gray or humpback whale. Seeing these massive creatures breach out of the deep waters a few yards from your boat will be the second-greatest memory of your time here (your wedding will be No. 1, obvs).

Playa de los Almantes, Mexico

Our top choice: Take a morning hike up Mount Solmar. A local guide, often accompanied by their dogs, will escort you to the top, where your party will be rewarded with an awestriking panorama of Cabo City, Land’s End, Lovers Beach, the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.
