A safari's to Kruger National Park in South Africa is indeed a trip of a lifetime!.  Searching for each of the "Big Five" should be on one's bucket list when on safari!  A dinner in the "bush" is an experience that most find exciting.  The rangers will protect you as you eat chicken, kudu ostrich, and some other African delicacies.  

South Africa is indeed a "world in one country" so exploring other areas enhances one's trip.  Cape Town is a beautiful city.  One can see Table Mountain, Boulder Beach with penguins up close and personal, vineyards, Kirstenbosch gardens, Robbin Island (where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for so many years), and Seal Island. One might drive along the Garden Route and visit an ostrich farm and see meerkats in their natural habitat.

One can "self drive" through Kruger National Park and stay at the lodges provided by the park system.  On the other hand, one can stay at private game reserves with many amenities to make it a luxury event.  You might want a butler, a massage, and private drivers each day.

A safari in Kenya is a different experience.   One needs a driver and guide in that country.  There are numerous different game reserves and camps from which to choose.  Some of the popular game reserves include Sweetwaters, Samburu National Reserve, St. Kenya Safari Club, and Amboseli.
