About Me

Beautiful Alaskan Mountains
Beautiful Alaskan Mountains

When I first set sail for Alaska, I knew I was heading somewhere special — but nothing could have prepared me for just how awe-inspiring this voyage would be. Cruising to Alaska isn’t just a trip; it’s a front-row seat to nature at its most spectacular, and I was lucky enough to experience it from the comfort (and excitement!) of a Carnival ship.

From the moment we left port, the scenery began to change. Towering snow-capped mountains came into view, their reflections dancing on the glassy water. I spent hours on deck, bundled in a cozy jacket, just watching the world glide by — bald eagles soaring overhead, sea lions lazing on rocky shores, and the occasional playful splash of a whale in the distance. Every day felt like I was living inside a nature documentary.

One of the most unforgettable moments was gliding past immense glaciers, their blue ice shimmering in the sunlight. The sound of ice calving — a deep, echoing crack followed by a splash — is something you can’t fully appreciate until you hear it in person. It’s both powerful and humbling, a reminder of how alive and ever-changing Alaska’s landscape is.

The ports of call were each an adventure of their own. In Juneau, I wandered through quaint shops before heading out to marvel at the Mendenhall Glacier. In Skagway, we traded the typical walking tour for a bus trip deep into the Yukon. The winding roads treated us to sweeping mountain views, rushing rivers, and lush valleys, and the highlight was stepping onto the Yukon Suspension Bridge — a thrilling, slightly wobbly crossing with spectacular views on every side.

Ketchikan brought a completely different kind of fun. Instead of seafood and totem poles, we went straight for the high-energy excitement of the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. With axes flying, saws buzzing, and plenty of good-natured rivalry, it was a lively, laugh-filled way to experience a slice of Alaskan culture.

What I love most about cruising to Alaska is that the ship itself becomes part of the adventure. Sea days meant relaxing in a warm lounge with panoramic windows, sipping coffee as the scenery rolled past. Evenings were filled with laughter, live entertainment, and the cozy hum of fellow passengers swapping stories about the day’s excursions. And every sunrise and sunset painted the sky with colors so vivid they looked unreal — soft pinks, fiery oranges, and deep purples melting into the horizon.

Alaska has a way of reminding you just how big and beautiful our world is. It’s the kind of destination that slows you down in the best possible way — where you trade traffic noise for the rush of a river, and the glow of a phone screen for the glow of the midnight sun.

I’ve traveled to incredible places, but Alaska holds a unique spot in my heart. It’s wild yet welcoming, rugged yet breathtakingly serene. Cruising there with Carnival gave me the perfect balance of comfort and adventure, and it’s an experience I’m always eager to share with others.

Whether you’re dreaming of seeing your first glacier, spotting wildlife in its natural habitat, or crossing a suspension bridge high above the river, Alaska will leave you with memories — and a sense of wonder — that last a lifetime.
