Rolling Hills of Tuscany

Central Italy is composed of Toscana, Umbria, Marche, and Lazio. This area is most well known for its historic significance, especially that of Tuscany aka ‘The cradle of the Rinascimento (Italian Renaissance)’. Some of the most beautiful scenery in Italy can be found here and it is a great mix if you want a little bit of everything. You can find the rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, the Apennine mountains, and amazing beaches. Not to mention- many masterpieces that must be viewed in person.

Cuisine:

There are too many amazing dishes to mention from central Italy. A few of the most notable are the bistecca alla fiorentina, cacio e pepe from Rome, and really anything including tartufo (truffle).

My favorite central Italian sweet is Maritozzi, a fluffy brioche filled with sweet, whipped cream; it is enjoyed as breakfast or dessert.

Chianti wine is produced in central Tuscany, it’s worth grabbing a bottle, or better yet, visiting a vineyard! If you prefer cocktails, Tuscany is also the birthplace of the Negroni.
