The Nobel Peace Center is home to the best of humanity.

Nobel Peace Center

The Nobel Prizes represent the summit of accomplishment in most fields; they are awarded to “those who have conferred the greatest benefit to humankind.” It’s safe to say that the Nobel Peace Center is the geographical manifestation of those ideals. This museum is home to the engaging stories of Alfred Nobel and the history of the Peace Prize, as well as a rotating exhibition of the current year’s winner.

The view from Ekeberg Park is a work of art in its own right.

Ekeberg Park

Just a few minutes outside of Oslo sits Ekeberg Park — a delightful melding of pristine nature and priceless sculpture. A stroll through the grounds sees you spying the works of internationally renowned artists like Louise Bourgeois, James Turrell, Dan Graham, Sarah Lucas, Damien Hirst and Roni Horn with classical and contemporary sculptures scattered among the treescape. In addition to the sculptures is another treasure worth observing: a semi-panoramic view over Ekeberg.

The Oslo district of Grünerløkka is an ever-walkable delight.

Grünerløkka District

Easily one of Oslo’s hippest areas, Grünerløkka District is a former workers district turned hotbed of creative energy. Lining this collection of streets are vintage shops, design boutiques, flea markets, cozy cafes and appetizing eateries. Snag a chic souvenir at a quintessentially Scandinavian boutique, savor an espresso at the dual-purpose coffee house/bike-repair shop Oslovelo or snag a bite to eat at the cheese-centered bistro Ostebutikken. Depending on the season, you might wish to break up your shopping and savoring with a trip to either the Grünerløkka Minigolf Park or the Jibbing and Snowboarding Park.
