Depart from Bridgetown, Barbados, and in so doing, leave your worries, frustrations, stresses, doubts and concerns behind. For the next nine days, float across the ocean aboard a palatial yacht, a refuge of tranquility with sails. By the time you arrive in Ponta Delgada, Portugal — the hidden gem of the Azores — nine days later, you’re practically a new person. Spend an overnight docked there, treating yourself to peaceful strolls through the maze-like Baroque streets, or a quick jaunt to the nearby thermal springs and adjacent hydrangea-lined trails. By the time you depart the next day, you’ll swear this slower, calmer pace is your new normal.
After sailing overnight, arrive in Lisbon; it’s the big city compared to Ponta Delgada, yet still infinitely more charming and magical than your everyday. Portugal’s capital is awash with azulejo tilework, Manueline masterworks, delectable pastries and simply breathtaking views of the Atlantic.
