Awe The Palace Life! Some of our travelers share their experiences at Palace Resorts and Le Blanc Spa Resorts.

See below for stories about family fun in both Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Cancun, Mexico, and a couples getaway to Los Cabos, Mexico.

Moon Palace Jamaica

Right when you walk in you know you’re in for a grand experience. From the relaxing view, welcome drink and that infamous Palace smell – ahhh paradise. The service is spectacular and everyone was so friendly! Just as we arrived a cruise ship that had stopped in the Ocho Rios port was departing for the day. It wasn’t every day but it was really impressive to see those big cruise ships come and go. We were very happy to in our own paradise just minutes from downtown Ocho Rios and all it has to offer.

After our travels on the first day we just wanted to relax and get familiar with our surroundings for the next week. So easy to find a chair on the beach or around the pool. Of course the kids are non-stop so they walked over to the activities beach and did some kayaking and paddle boarding. So much fun to be had in and around the water. The ever popular Dunn’s River Falls is something you just have to do. But make it extra special by traveling there with on a catamaran and even doing some snorkeling ahead of the trek up the falls. You don’t have to go far from the resort to see some of the Caribbean’s beautiful fish.

One of the most exciting excursions we booked through Palace Resorts was a trek to the Blue Hole. Just south of Ocho Rios in the mountains are waterfalls that flow into pools of turquoise waters. With breathtaking views and small to larger jumps into the pristine waters you are sure to get a thrill at the Blue Hole. The tour guides are fabulous, and they will assist you in anyway, whether advising you where to step to pumping you up for the big jump.

Whether you upgrade to a 2-bedroom suite or stay in one of the Family Deluxe room our family of 5 had plenty of room. The beds are some of the best we’ve ever slept in. We had a great view and by the looks of it most of the rooms have an ocean-view. One morning we ordered room service but every other meal we at in one of the many restaurants and even pool/beach side. The variety was endless, an afternoon snack of jerk chicken on the beach or a sushi roll night cap. Plus the kids loved the smoothie drinks – the Bob Marley was by far their favorite.

Oh and did we mention the Wifi was reliable!! I know it’s a vacation and we shouldn’t be spending time on our phones, but Palace has this really cool app that shows you the daily activities, nightly shows, lets you book spa and excursions. Plus do you really think we can keep 3 kids off their phones for a full week? We are sure to travel back to the Moon Palace Jamaica Ya’Mon!

The Grand at Moon Palace

Walking into the lobby of The Grand at Moon Palace is truly grand! From the fresh scented cool towel and drink upon arrival, to the impressive lobby filled with contemporary glass sculptures and lighting it is truly a feast for the senses! The check-in was quick and easy and since we arrived in the late afternoon our room was ready and waiting for us.  But before we headed to our room, we were starving from our long day of travel and decided to sit down and relax at Tavola Italian restaurant, which is right off of the lobby and check-in area.

Tavola is such an amazing restaurant, the décor is beautiful and the menu has offerings that you would find at your favorite Italian restaurants back home. From the burratta cheese and fresh tomato appetizer to the wood fired pizza’s and spaghetti Bolognese, everything we tried on the menu was delicious! Oh and don’t forget dessert, the Bomboloni are a round sugar covered donut filled with custard and served warm with a caramel dipping sauce! To die for!

After we were busting at the seams from such an amazing meal, we headed to our room. And don’t worry, the lobby staff will bring your luggage so all you have to do is grab your kids and start walking! The Grand at Moon Palace offers so many conveniences like the wrist bands which are set to automatically open your room door, so you don’t need to worry about losing your keys! Once we entered our room we were followed by a team member who brought in our luggage and explained all of the room amenities. The highlight for our kids was the stocked mini-fridge with juices, waters and sodas as well as the snack drawer filled with candy and chips! (And yes, they do re-stock these on a daily basis!)

After we unpacked we quickly headed to the beach and found a perfect spot amongst the palm trees where the girls could grab a hammock and take in the beautiful surroundings. This down time allowed for my husband and I to download the Palace Resorts App and get an idea of what activities were happening that day and throughout the week as well as make dinner reservations at some of the more popular restaurants.

We spent the next couple of days exploring and enjoying the resorts! The Grand at Moon Palace has a waterpark with waterslides, a wave pool and lazy river which was perfect when we needed to cool off from the warm sun. We also took advantage of the Kids Club at the Playroom which is a 2-story playground and must I say, it’s not just for kids! We played multiple rounds of the glow-in-the dark mini golf, air hockey, got lost in the mirror maze and the girls enjoyed the bumper cars.

There are also multiple pool areas at The Grand at Moon Palace which offers something for everyone. If you are looking for a place to read and get some great food and drink delivered to your poolside cabana, grab a spot by the Los Tacos restaurant and pool. They offer fresh chips and guacamole as well as many different varieties of tacos from fresh fish, carnitas and even a vegetarian option! (And if you can’t decide because they all sound good, no worries, because it is an all-inclusive so you can order as much as you want!) There are also many other pool options at this resort, from the activity pools with swim-up bars to the adults-only option which gives you a chance to take a little time for yourself. And the great news is the resort is so spread out, that you never have a problem finding a chair or place to relax for the day!

During the day there were many activities for us to stay busy and the fun didn’t stop at night. The resort offers a nightly show in a huge in-door air conditioned theater with popcorn and drinks available to all guests who arrive for the show. One of the highlights for us was watching the pre-show in which they invited guests on to the stage to participate in fun games and craziness always ensued!

There also is bowling, and the Wired Lounge where kids and adults can play video and interactive games side by side! Our evenings often ended with us heading over to the Boulangerie where they had handmade chocolates, ice cream and rows of the most beautiful desserts to top off our perfect day at the resort.

Overall there is so much to do at this resort that it is the perfect vacation spot for families of all sizes and age groups. The only thing we wished for, is that we had stayed longer so we could truly experience everything the resort had to offer!

Tips for staying at the Grand at Moon Palace

  • You must take advantage of all of the great dining options. Don’t miss JC’s Steakhouse for tender prepared steaks and mouth-watering sides or Habibi for a middle eastern experience with a Lebanese twist

  • Be sure to discover the additional sections of the Moon Palace, Nizuc and Sunrise, which offer additional fun amenities like the FlowRider surfing simulator, outdoor mini golf as well as bikes you can jump on to tour the property

  • Take advantage of the free water sports included with your stay which include catamarans, wind surfers and kayaks.

Book a tour or two as the resort is within close proximity to many cultural and historical sites that are not to be missed! Or if exploration is in your mindset, take a ferry to one of the two surrounding islands, Cozumel or Isla Mujeres for some world class snorkeling or scuba diving!
