"We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us.” I love that anonymous quote and wholeheartedly believe in it! I’m Amanda, your Jamaica, Puerto Rico and Florida travel specialist. For the past 16 years, I’ve been helping clients plan the vacations of their dreams. Let me book you on a warm weather vacation where you can relax on the beach, take in the sights, or do a bit of both – it’s up to you! Jamaica is one of my favorite destinations, and no matter how many times I go there, I love everything about this island: the white sand beaches, the crystal blue waters, shopping in Ocho Rios, snorkeling, kayaking, activities and cuisines at the many resorts (like Jewel Runaway Bay), SCUBA certification, cliff diving, rum tours, alligator safari tours, Martha Brea River Rafting, Dunn’s River Falls, Fern Gully, Bob Marley 9 Mile Tour, horseback riding, zip lining, bobsledding, ATV tours, and the most friendly people. Each trip I take there I find something new to see or do, and I manage to meet so many people from all over the world – many of whom I stay in contact with! I can’t wait for you to show me your pictures of your trip! Puerto Rico is another set of beautiful islands that my clients love, especially since they don’t need a passport! It is very serene and so full of history, especially in Old San Juan; the people are vibrant and full of life! I recently traveled there with a rental car to see the island on a personal level. I tried all of the local foods (spicy, seafood, rice and beans, etc.), including one of the food trucks featured on the Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food”, “El Churry,” the first night I arrived. It was terrific! The beaches are all so beautiful, and the water is perfect for snorkeling, surfing, and boogie boarding. The El Yunque Rainforest is incredible and is the only rainforest in the US; it is so lush with green trees, waterfalls and hiking trails. It even has some horseback riding along some trails as well as some zip lining and swimming in some of the waterfalls. The Island of Culebra, one of the main islands of Puerto Rico, has one of the world’s best beaches and is absolutely picture perfect. Culebra is only 7x4 miles, has no luxury resorts or casinos, and is very low-key. Vieques is Puerto Rico’s other Island, has a bioluminescent bay with a national wildlife refuge, the largest in the Caribbean. You’ll have to let me know what your favorite part of the trip is! And I really enjoy sending families to Orlando, Florida and the surrounding area, as well as on Disney cruises. The theme parks in Orlando have something for all ages (young and old) and nearby is the Daytona 500, Daytona Bike Week, two different bodies of water, great beaches, food, wine, shopping and amazing nightlife. As for the theme parks, there’s Disney, which includes: Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, Disney’s Hollywood Studios; two water parks including: Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park (winter-themed water park), Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park; then there’s Downtown Disney (shopping/dining); and there’s also La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil as well as Sea World, Universal Orlando, Discovery Cove (swimming with dolphins), Lego Land, and Port Canaveral. You’ll never be bored in Orlando! I’m passionate about travel and love to hear my clients’ stories when they return from their trips. I want to know if they’ve had a great time, what they would do again or what they would do differently next time. I really enjoy hearing feedback – and of course, seeing photos! I attended the McConnell School Inc. in Minneapolis, MN and am a destination wedding and honeymoon specialist. I cater to individuals, couples, groups, families and multi-generational customers. I am also a Beaches and Sandals Specialist.
