Mobile, Alabama Travel Agent
Leisure Operations Manager, Adventure Travel
My career in the travel industry began in 1985 after a year of study in the International-Intra Cultural Interdisciplinary Program at the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. In-depth study of unique cultures around the world set me on a course where travel became essential in my life. Fostering the same passion for travel in the lives of others has become equally essential. While completing a two year degree in Travel and Tourism under the direction of the late Jack Viskal, I worked as an apprentice at the tour operator Southland Travel Service, which specialized in group travel to destinations all over the world. I advanced my position there to be the group tour manager for the AARP division, handling all of the reservations for the Western European Tours. With terrorism in Greece taking a toll on international tourism in the mid 1980's, our tour operator down-sized and eventually closed. From there, I began my long career as a retail travel agent. I've been extremely fortunate to learn from the best in the business, and to have been a witness to all of the changes the industry has endured throughout the last three decades.
My experience in the travel industry is varied and vast. Throughout the years, I've worked as a tour operator, ticket consolidator, big game hunting coordinator for Africa and Alaska, corporate travel agent, groups and meeting coordinator, wholesale golf tour operator, hotel sales manager, outside sales representative for corporate travel, and leisure travel consultant. Returning to frontline sales and working with my customers to help them realize their dreams is the best career in the world for me.
My specialty is in customizing unique vacation experiences for my clients. Fortunately, I've been able to incorporate my own passions of golf, adventure and unique travel experiences into what I do. My own travel experience is primarily Europe (having been there many times), but also includes Mexico, the Caribbean, and U.S. destinations. I am continuing to grow my knowledge and personal travel experience in Central and South America, and have a great deal of knowledge to offer my customers for these areas as well. Most importantly, customer service is my number one goal! I put in the time and effort necessary to ensure that the vacation experiences I plan for my travelers have exceeded their expectations, so that together we build on each new travel experience.
