Native American Travel and Meetings Specialist
My name is Jared King. I am the owner of Yeego Travel Meetings and Events LLC, a 100 percent Native American-owned full-service travel and meeting and event planning company. I am a proud citizen of the Navajo Nation and the United States originally from Naschitti, New Mexico and have resided in Washington, DC for the last 14 years. For the last 11 years, I have developed expertise in travel and meeting event planning for individuals and groups of all sizes and budgets across the country. I have developed working relationships with Native American communities, organizations and tribal governments in traveling to Washington, DC for their meetings with the federal government and Congress. I am developing leisure travel for the American, European and Asian markets wanting to visit Native American communities throughout the United States.
I am a citizen of the Navajo Nation and the United States and have traveled extensively to Mexico, Canada, Chile, Australia, France, Italy, Hawaii and other states within the continental United States. In 2015, I founded Yeego Travel Meetings and Events LLC specializing in cultural tourism, meetings and event production, and travel management.
I began my career in developing Native American Cultural Interpretation programs for museums and public parks. I founded and led the cultural interpretation program at the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, DC in its inaugural years. I am also the founder of the American Indian Interpretive Area at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, a living history museum located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 2014, I was a member of the Navajo Nation delegation that successfully repatriated seven sacred Navajo masks from Paris France. I led the government-to-government collaboration effort in raising international awareness of cultural patrimony. In 2009, I was invited by the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in a cross-cultural exchange with the Republic of Croatia at the Red Rocks Arts and Crafts Festival in Zagreb. Along with Navajo traditional sand painter Nolan Chee and Phyllis Wilson, we represented the living art of sand painting to faculty, students and the public at the Croatian-American Society, performed with award-winning Anishinabe recording artist Keith Secola, and arranged and facilitated media interviews commemorating the exchange.
In Navajo culture, we introduce ourselves to others by telling you our maternal and paternal clans. My clans are Tl’ááshchí’í (Red Bottom People) and born for Táchii’nii (Red-Running-Into-The-Water). My maternal grandfathers are Tábaahá (Water's Edge) and my paternal grandfathers are Dziltl’ahnii (Mountain Cove). I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from The Colorado College.
Washington, DC Hotel and Travel Agent Review
View of Banderas Bay, Playa de los Muertos, PVR
My fiancé and I used Yeego Travel for a recent trip down to DC. Jared got us a top floor room right in the heart of the neighborhood we most wanted to be in for an incredible price. I'd recommend Yeego Travel to anyone (and have numerous times). - S. Robertson, Brooklyn, New York.
