Certainly, Peru never left my heart, and despite the many years in the States, it is refreshing to see that the country has worked on expanding its content offers beyond traditional Macchu Picchu and Cuzco; though these attractions continue to be must-have experiences. There are opportunities to get involved in experiential tourism, be it with local people in the islands located in Lake Titicaca where you would learn about ancient textile techniques, or learning about coffee growing or safaris in the jungle. Trekking, bird-watching, mountain-climbing, historical tours, new archeological discoveries, spiritual expeditions into the Amazon for Ayahuasca ceremonies are some of the activities you can indulge with. Almost forgot another important one – the exploding Culinary experience. The world has discovered peruvian food and it cannot have enough of it so there are plenty of opportunities to visit both the fancy and not so fancy (equally delicious) destinations to enjoy delicious dishes which portray a fusion of flavor from around the world.
