River Cruising American Style
Fantastic cruise on American Harmony
Do you want to cruise but want to stay closer to home, in the USA? American Cruise Lines offers all USA itineraries on America's rivers and coastal waters.
My wife Cindy and I were treated to a Familiarization cruise on the Mississippi River with American Cruise Lines sailing from New Orleans to Memphis on the brand new American Harmony.
In addition to the Mississippi River, American Cruise Lines offers itineraries on the Columbia/Snake Rivers, Ohio/Cumberland Rivers as well as the coastal waters of Maine, New England, the Chesapeake, the Low Country of the Southeast, the Puget Sound/San Juan Islands and Alaska.
The ship was new, clean and spacious, much more spacious and accessible than a typical European riverboat. The staff, while young, was attentive and eager to please. The Hotel Manager, Nick, was the best one I have ever worked with. The excursions were varied and professional. The food was outstanding.
American Cruise Lines' series of modern riverboats ushered in a new era of river cruising in the U.S. It introduced the country’s first modern riverboat in 2018, with the historic debut of the series flagship, American Song. The second modern riverboat, American Harmony, was introduced in 2019 and the third, American Jazz, begins cruising the Mississippi in 2020. American Cruise Lines has introduced five new ships since 2017, including new coastal ships, and will have 14 ships cruising in 2021.
