Grilled Salmaon at Restaurant Barrrachina in Old S
I love how travel has evolved into so many new and different venues over recent years. One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to explore the culture and food of a destination, and learn the history behind the food. This is where my love to plan culinary vacations evolved, whether it be cooking lessons at the home of a chef in Mexico, a resort offering cooking classes or cruising with a cruise line who has a culinary arts kitchen and immersive culinary excursions.
My travels have taken me to Grand Cayman, Aruba, Bonaire, Grenada, Dominica, St. Martin, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Martinique, Montego Bay, Cozumel, St. Thomas, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize and Roatan. On my recent travels I did site inspections of resorts on 7 different islands, so as to better familiarize myself with properties I send my clients to because I deem this information invaluable. I pride myself on continuing education through webinars, courses and trade magazines since new and innovative changes are occurring to properties and cruise lines in the travel industry.
Cooking vacations can be tasting events, cooking classes, cooking demonstrations, stops at local restaurants and food festivals. Have you ever traveled to a city or country and had a meal that you came away thinking, "I would like to have that recipe to take home". With most of the cooking classes you will not only bring the recipes home, but learn how to make the dish beforehand.
