I Left My Heart in Africa.
On safari in Tanzania!
"The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa, for he has so much to look forward to." - Richard Mullin
When I chose 3 African countries as honeymoon destinations, I thought that I had a pretty good idea of just how amazing of an experience it would be. What I could not have ever prepared myself for were the life-changing, eye-opening, awe-inducing, never-be-the-same-again moments that made up my time there.
It all started the moment the plane made its final descent into Arusha airport in Tanzania. The black of the night - not marred by a single bit of electricity - welcomed us onto the continent for what continues to be our greatest adventure yet. Our 8-day safari took us to some of Tanzania's most incredible parks and lodging options and left me in tears as our small plane shuttled us from the Serengeti National Park back to Arusha for our flight onward to Cape Town. In the Serengeti, you are witnessing the "African dream". Meaning "Endless Plains", this National Park seems to roll on forever - it is a paradise of Acacia Trees, elegant antelope, lazing lions, prowling predators, eye-popping zebras, giraffe, and millions of wildebeest migrating through the Mara River. Spot a leopard hiding in the trees, or a pride of lions lounging under the shade of an acacia - afraid of no beast and no man. In Tarangire - the land of elephants - we gazed with mouths wide open at herds of them playfully bathing and drinking in the river, and assuredly crossing the path in front of our bush vehicle - so close you could practically bump noses. If the lion is King of the Jungle, the elephant is most surely King of the Beasts.
The last stop on our safari was a literal Garden of Eden here on Earth - the Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro provides what you could call a hyper-condensed safari - the amount of wildlife per sq mile is virtually unheard of anywhere else on the planet, and the beauty of waking up to dense fog curling out of the caldera like smoke from a cauldron cannot be described. As the day wears on and the sun shines down, you can watch the mist dissipate wisp by wisp from your prime position 2,000 feet below the crater rim. Ask me about the time we went to dinner and then attempted to go back to our lodge hut only to find it surrounded by wild African buffalo.
There's no denying African safaris are as life-changing as life-changing adventures get. But don't discount all of the other wonders Africa has to offer. South Africa is essentially a mini-earth in one country - famous for the big 7 instead of the big 5 (Rhino, Leopard, Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Whale, and Great White Shark) - and offers so much diversity and natural beauty it is astounding. Cape Town is so breathtakingly beautiful you might never want to leave. Do you love wine? The Cape Winelands are a must-visit - picturesque rolling hills dotted with vineyards, charming wineries, and excellent wines await you. Are you a thrill seeker? Abseil down Table Mountain, or cage dive with Great Whites. Do you love the outdoors? Countless hikes are available to you - from Lion's Head to the Cape of Good Hope. Combine Cape Town or Jo-Burg with a safari in Kruger or Sabi Sands to experience urban appeal and wildest Africa.
When you find yourself in southern Africa, a quick visit to Victoria Falls cannot be beaten. Lovingly referred to as "The Smoke That Thunders", these Falls are the great curtain of falling water anywhere in the world. Walk the path to hear (and feel!) their power, or visit the Devil's Pool and peer over the edge of the Falls when the water levels allow.
Did I mention the accommodation? If you are thinking that a Safari vacation means roughing it and leaving the creature comforts behind, you are definitely mistaken. Whether you are glamping in a safari tent camp, or resting your head in one of the many luxe lodges, overnights in Africa can be some of the most luxurious, mind-blowing experiences you'll ever encounter.
I have earned my certifications as a South Africa and Kenya travel specialist and my own personal travels to Tanzania and Zimbabwe make me uniquely qualified to craft your perfect African adventure. My passion for this incredible, diverse continent burns brighter every day. I love nothing more than sharing my experience with others so that I can encourage, inspire, and guide them in creating their own life-changing journey to this incredibly special place.
My bucket-list reads like a list of Africa's Greatest Hits:
Gorilla Trek to watch the magnificent Silverbacks in Uganda's Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Visit the Skeleton Coast and spy desert-adapted Elephants in Namibia
Brave a serene trip in a traditional mokoro throughout Botswana's sparkling Okavango Delta
Explore the "8th continent" of Madagascar, where over 80% of the island's plants and animals cannot be found anywhere else on Earth
Cruise the Nile River to Luxor and Valley of the Kings
Where are your African dreams taking you?

The trip request included 15 people, and Angela expertly suggested accommodations, handled ground and air logistics, and developed an amazing itinerary that stayed within our budget.
After all this work, our trip has unfortunately been cancelled for now due to coronavirus concerns, but we hope to work with Angela on other trips in the future!
All elements of the cruise were outstanding.

Throughout the trip we had questions that Angela was able to answer quickly and clearly as travelling so far can be intimidating.
