Hong Kong is a cultural kaleidoscope filled with exciting things to see and do for every type of traveller. We had a great time wandering from the wide variety of market in Mong Kok-- flowers, birds, jade, food, electronics etc. Beyond the iconic experiences of the Victoria Peak Tram and the Star Ferry ride across the harbour Hong Kong has a never ending list of lesser known things to do. The ten thousand Buddhas or the Chi Lin Nunnery gave us a glimpse into the religious diversity of the the city. The incredible island of Lantau was a great place to spend a day taking the cable car to the Big Buddha with a side trip to the tiny fishing village of Tai O. Riding a bus along the winding roads dodging water buffalo wandering around is one of my favorite travel memories ever! Oddly enough Hong Kong is also a wonderful place for hiking and beach enthusiasts. The Dragon's Back trail will lead you through beautiful vistas to amazing beaches. I am incredibly lucky not only to have spent a fair amount of time in the city last summer, but my son now lives there so I can't wait to plan my next trip!
