We had a fairly expensive trip planned to Africa treating our son, daughter-in-law and grandson. We were to leave on March 2, 2020. Near the beginning of March it became apparent that this was not a good idea. Our travel insurance coverage was very limited in this situation. Rather than loose a substantial amount of money, I started wondering about rescheduling. The long time Burkhalter travel agent who had arranged our trip had just retired but she recommended Gail Hummel as a replacement. Remember all of the costs of the trip had already been paid, so Gail didn’t have much to gain. These are uncertain times for travel, but I’m firmly convinced that we have a travel agency, Burkhalter, and a wonderful travel agent, Gail Hummel, that won’t stop if we need another miracle for our rescheduled trip. I wouldn’t consider any other travel agency than Burkhalter nor any other travel agent that Gail Hummel.

She was friendly, informative and available. Our trip was amazing. The housing arrangements were perfect for us. She gave great advice.

Gail is easy to work with, and takes all the hassle out of planning a trip. She is great at taking care of details that I would not have thought of. When it came to submitting and obtaining insurance payments for travel delays, Gail was there to help submit the claims and urge cooperation from the claims adjusters. Fantastic trip to the west coast including Seattle, Cannon Beach, OR, and Napa Valley, CA! Gail had everything planned and found some beautiful hotels for us to stay at.

Gail added extra time before and after riverboat cruise we gave her the go ahead to pick our hotels and transportation to and from destinations. The hotels were better than we expected we didn't miss our bed or pillows on the whole trip. She put together a customized family trip where we had 3 parts of the family, coming from 3 different parts of the country, then spending over a week in Norway,, then each family part visiting different Euro locales after Norway and retuning to their home bases. There were literally many dozens of different connections on various type of transport including planes, train, ferries. Many opportunities for something to go wrong, all worked extremely well. which I think is quite remarkable. I have used Gail four or five times. Each time we’ve worked with her things went smooth. We would not continue to use her if we were disappointed in her work. We were traveling with a severely disabled individual. Gail checked out ADA accommodations along the way and made sure we could enjoy our trip. She notified the airlines of our needs so we could gait check the wheelchair. She even got us the measurements of the gait check space so that we knew what we needed to take off the chair for it to fit!! Gail talked me through the parking at O'Hare airport!! (Much needed since it had been more than a decade since I had flown out of there.) Plus she had the rental car all arranged on Maui, She recommended activities that were accessible. Plus she walked me through it all before we left. We had an absolutely wonderful time thanks to the solid pre-planning.
