DESTINATIONS VISITED:Slovenia
PLACES VISITED:
SUGGESTED DURATION:1 Days
Nestled in the heart of Europe, Slovenia is like a secret garden waiting to be explored.
Slovenia definitely blew me away with its stunning landscapes. Imagine emerald lakes surrounded by towering pines, rolling hills dotted with charming villages, and the Adriatic coast greeting you with palm-lined beaches. Lake Bled was a highlight—crystal-clear waters, a fairytale island church, and a medieval castle perched on a hill.
Slovenian cuisine offers a delightful blend of Mediterranean and Central European flavors. I indulged in dishes like štruklji (rolled dumplings), fresh seafood by the coast, and honey-glazed pastries.
If you’re dreaming of a trip that combines nature, culture, and adventure with a sprinkle of fairy-tale charm, Slovenia should be at the top of your list.

From Budapist to Maribor, Slovenia
Today we were picked up in Budapest by our driver, Vid, who will be taking care of us and showing us his country for the next 5 days. Our first stop was Maribor, Slovenia.
Maribor is Slovenia’s second-largest city, nestled gracefully along the Drava River and surrounded by rolling vineyards and lush greenery. Known as the "City of Wine," it’s a fantastic blend of rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning natural beauty — perfect for travelers who love to explore both urban charm and the great outdoors!
Maribor boasts some of the world's oldest vineyards, including the famous Old Vine (Stara trta), which is over 400 years old and still producing grapes! Wine lovers can enjoy tasting tours through local vineyards and cozy wine cellars.
Just a stone's throw away, you’ll find the Pohorje Hills, a playground for hiking, mountain biking, and in winter, skiing. The scenic landscape bursts with wildflowers and dense forests — a breath of fresh alpine air.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Try traditional Slovenian dishes at local restaurants, from hearty stews to fresh river fish. Maribo
Wine tasting at boutique family-run vineyards in and around the city.
FINAL THOUGHTS
