There is nothing I find more interesting in travel than stepping off the beaten path. Adventure travel doesn't necessarily mean forging Japanese steel with a blade smith or hiking up an active volcano. Sometimes, all you need is immerse yourself in the local culture, share a meal, and learn to cook that meal!

Simple things can open doors to new experiences. Whether it's chatting to your host about that special place where he/she would bring a date, or going to that club locals go to dance salsa. When I travel, or when I plan trip, I like finding new, less touristy places. Besides having to share cultural sites with fewer tourists, it also means that the locals will be more welcoming and genuine - meeting you for who you are rather than the funds you bring. 

With an open mind, even that weekend getaway can turn into an exciting trip. Maybe you'll stumble on a new vineyard or a small local festival that you never knew existed.
