About Me

If you have never been, you are in for something special. People expect beautiful scenery, and then they get there and realize it is so much more than that. Canada has a way of slowing you down and waking you up at the same time, which is exactly the kind of travel I love most.

I believe travel is one of the most powerful ways to come home to yourself, and Canada gives you the room to do exactly that. Room to breathe, room to notice, room to remember what it feels like to be amazed.

Let me walk you through my favorite corners of it.

British Columbia is where the mountains meet the ocean, and Vancouver might be one of the most livable-feeling cities in North America. You can walk the seawall at Stanley Park in the morning, eat some of the best Asian food outside of Asia for lunch, and be up in Whistler by afternoon. Whistler is famous for skiing, and it earns it, but do not overlook it in the summer. Alpine hiking, mountain biking, and those long northern evenings are something else. If you have extra days, take the ferry to Vancouver Island for Victoria's gardens and Tofino's wild Pacific beaches.

Alberta is home to Banff and Jasper, and I will tell you honestly, photos do not do them justice. The lakes are that blue. The air is that clean. Moraine Lake at sunrise will quiet even the loudest mind, and Lake Louise is worth every bit of its fame. Driving the Icefields Parkway between Banff and Jasper might be the most beautiful road trip on the continent, with glaciers, waterfalls, and wildlife around nearly every bend. If you have ever wanted to see an elk, a moose, or a bear in the wild, this is your place. The town of Banff has hot springs, great restaurants, and views from every window.

Quebec feels like Europe without the transatlantic flight. Old Quebec City is pure charm, with cobblestone streets, French cafes, and history on every corner. It is the only fortified city north of Mexico, and walking the old walls feels like stepping back in time. Montreal has an energy all its own. Festivals all summer long, an incredible food scene from bagels to fine dining, and a culture that blends French and North American in a way you will not find anywhere else.

And do not sleep on the Maritimes. New Brunswick and the Bay of Fundy are home to the highest tides in the world. You can walk on the ocean floor at low tide and kayak over that same spot a few hours later. The coastal towns are warm and unhurried, the seafood is as fresh as it gets, and the people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet. Nearby Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia's Cabot Trail are worth the detour if you have time.

Ontario deserves a mention too. Niagara Falls is best from the Canadian side, Toronto is a world-class city, and the wine country towns along Lake Ontario make a lovely slower-paced addition.

When should you go? Summer, roughly June through September, gives you the best weather and the longest days, which matters when the sun sets at 10pm in the north. Fall in Quebec and the Maritimes is stunning, with foliage that rivals New England. Winter in Banff, Jasper, or Whistler is a true wonderland if you love snow, and Quebec City in the snow looks like a storybook.

A few practical things worth knowing. Canada is huge, so do not try to see it all in one trip. Pick a region and do it well. You will need a valid passport, and most US travelers do not need a visa for tourist visits. The Canadian dollar is the currency, credit cards are widely accepted, and tipping works like it does in the US. If you are driving, build in extra time between stops, because you will want to pull over. And book national park lodging early, especially in Banff and Jasper, since the best spots fill up months ahead.

The kinds of trips I love planning here: romantic getaways in Quebec City or Banff, family adventures through the Rockies, girlfriend trips to Montreal, and solo journeys for anyone who needs to clear their head and reconnect with themselves. Multi-generational trips work beautifully too, from scenic rail journeys like the Rocky Mountaineer to easy lakeside resorts.

Here is the truth as I see it. It is not just about where you go. It is about who you get to be while you are there. Canada gives you space to exhale, to look up, to feel small in the best possible way in front of something vast and beautiful. I would be honored to help you plan a trip that does exactly that.
