Oregon has everything that I love about the outdoors, from beautiful mountains, lakes, and waterfalls to a rugged coastline, wide-open desert, towering trees, and winding rivers. Camping, fishing, hiking, rafting, skiing and any other outdoor activity is greatly enhanced while doing it in Oregon.

 I had wanted to visit Oregon ever since I saw The Goonies as a kid. One of the first places I traveled to was Astoria, where the movie was filmed, and visiting the locations that had captured my imagination was an awesome experience. That trip sparked an even deeper appreciation for Oregon and inspired me to explore more of what the state has to offer.

I’ve traveled throughout Oregon, experiencing all of its diverse regions and discovering the unique character each one has to offer. 

And then there’s Crater Lake. It is easily one of the most naturally beautiful places on the planet. It is the deepest lake in the nation, with the clearest water in the world. No inlet or outlet, just a giant hole in the earth that has filled with melting snow and rain for the last 7,700 years. The deep blue water surrounded by jagged volcanic peaks creates a landscape unlike anything else I have even seen in person, and it’s one of those places that stays with you long after you leave.

 Oregon is also home to some of the most spectacular waterfalls on Earth. From powerful cascades tucked into lush forests to scenic drives through the Columbia River Gorge, the state offers endless opportunities for adventure and exploration. If you love beautiful cascading waterfalls that look like they're straight out of a fairytale, you will love this state

Oregon’s beauty doesn’t end with its mountains, lakes and forests. You can walk along the Pacific coast, explore the high desert, stand beneath enormous old-growth trees, or ride a river through a scenic valley. Few places offer such an incredible variety of landscapes within one state. 

Oregon is also a destination for food lovers. Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had has been in Oregon, and I love discovering the local restaurants, markets, breweries, and small-town spots that give each part of the state its own personality.

Bend is a particular favorite, with all of its unique breweries and lively atmosphere. What makes Oregon special to me is that it offers everything that I love in one state. You can spend the morning hiking through an ancient forest, chase waterfalls in the afternoon, enjoy a good meal along the coast, browse the local small town shops, and end the day surrounded by mountains, or a spectacular Pacific Northwest sunset.
