Hi, I’m Katie, the founder of Compass and Coast Vacations. I am an Air Force veteran, current military spouse, and mom of three adventurous boys. Over the past 20 years, my family and I have had the incredible experience of living and exploring overseas in places like Japan, Italy, and Germany, with South Korea soon to be next.

With a lifetime shaped by global travel, I bring both personal experience and professional insight to every journey I design. Having lived across North America, Europe, and Asia — and explored over 70 destinations worldwide (including more than 50 countries) — I understand what transforms a trip from ordinary to unforgettable.

Living abroad has given me a deep appreciation for other cultures, new experiences, and the way travel can broaden perspectives for both adults and children. Some of my greatest life memories have come from traveling the world with my family and watching our children learn through those experiences — trying new foods, giving our kids the chance to experience history firsthand, and seeing how beautifully different cultures can be around the world.

This love of adventure and seeing the world is what lead me to create my own Travel Company. I have been to the locations, walked where my clients will walk, savored the flavors to be found.  I want travel to feel exciting, personal, and meaningful — not overwhelming. From traveling extensively by ship, air, and rail, I’ve experienced the world through multiple styles of travel — giving me a well-rounded perspective on how to craft seamless, efficient, and enjoyable itineraries. I’ve also organized group travel experiences and personally led small-group sightseeing across major cities, developing a hands-on approach that anticipates details others might miss. With a preference for luxury stays and private, immersive tours, I specialize in elevated travel experiences that allow my clients to explore the world with ease, confidence, and a true sense of discovery.

Excellent Last Minute Trip Help!

I came to Katie in a mild panic over an upcoming trip in two days without any concrete plans. I’m not really good at creating itineraries, and when I was talking to her about it, she told me to just hold on. Within 24 hours, she had a three day itinerary complete with tickets purchased, hotel booked, and sightseeing points of interest ready to go. What a relief! The trip was great, and undoubtedly Katie’s help was a major reason for that.

Best trip to Venice Italy

Our Venice portion of the trip was equally magical, thanks to Katie’s thoughtful planning. From the moment we landed and navigated the water bus to our Airbnb, everything felt smooth and well-coordinated. We loved wandering along the Grand Canal toward the Rialto Bridge, exploring charming piazzas, and discovering unique shops along the way. One of the highlights was finding a hidden book café—such a fun and memorable touch—and relaxing in St. Mark’s Square with Aperol spritzes while soaking in the atmosphere. The evening concert featuring Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons was absolutely unforgettable, followed by a fantastic late dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Katie created the perfect mix of iconic experiences and hidden gems, making Venice feel both adventurous and relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for a better-planned trip.

Girls trip to Paris France

Katie planned an unforgettable Paris experience for our girls trip, and every detail felt seamless. We arrived via high-speed train from Trier and checked into a stunning five-star hotel with an incredible breakfast that set the tone for each day. One morning, we strolled through the beautiful Tuileries Gardens on our way to the Louvre, where we spent hours exploring and soaking in the art and history. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between structure and flexibility. Our afternoon walking tour gave us a deeper appreciation of the city, including highlights like Notre Dame, and the day concluded with an elegant fine dining reservation that felt like the perfect Parisian evening. Fabulous Adventure in Paris

Our trip to Paris started off with a stay in a five star hotel that included a fabulous breakfast! In the morning, we walked through the Tuileries Gardens, where we enjoyed the manicured lawns and gardens. We strolled the gravel paths admiring its beautiful statues. We had a lovely time sitting by the fountain enjoying the sounds gurgling water. This was followed by a self guided tour of Le Louvre Museum where we visited the most important works the museum has to offer. In the afternoon we took a history walking tour of the city. One of the most memorable parts were walking through the old Jewish quarter as well as visiting some antique/thrift shops. We also saw Notre Dame as it was being renovated from the fire. We ended that day with an evening reservation at a fine dining restaurant! Mary sure made our trip to Paris so memorable!!
