Australia is a destination I know well, having spent over six months across three trips exploring five of the country’s six states. The diversity is unmatched, from world-class cities to remote natural landscapes, there is always more to discover. It hosts some of the friendliest people in the world and is my top spot for wildlife encounters!
Most journeys begin in Sydney, a charming city that consistently exceeds expectations. I loved visiting the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge and strolling through the city’s vibrant neighborhoods. Beyond the city, the Blue Mountains and surrounding coastal towns provide easy access to nature and scenic beauty.
Queensland offers an incredible range of experiences, from the laid-back energy of Brisbane to the natural wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Brisbane itself has a relaxed, modern feel with a strong café culture and easy access to nearby beaches. One of the highlights of my time in the state was exploring the far north, where I visited the Daintree Rainforest and stayed in Port Douglas. I particularly enjoyed my time at Four Mile Beach, a stunning stretch of sand framed by a tropical landscape.
Melbourne, in Victoria, is a city I really enjoyed for its culture, dining, and easy walkability. I love spending time exploring its laneways, cafés, and neighborhoods, each with its own character and energy. Just outside the city, Healesville Sanctuary is a personal favorite for seeing Australian wildlife in a natural, well-designed setting. I also really enjoyed visiting the Grampians region, which stands out for its dramatic scenery, hiking, and sense of space and quiet.
Western Australia is my personal favorite state in the country. I love its sense of space, from nearly empty beaches to endless outdoor landscapes that feel completely untouched in places. Perth is a great starting point, offering a relaxed but sophisticated city experience with easy access to nature. One of the places I especially enjoyed was Albany, which has a mix of coastal scenery, history, and local character. Just beyond the town, you can quickly find dramatic coastal views and excellent hiking, making it an ideal base for exploring the region. And I saw emus and kangaroos on every hike that I went on!
Canberra, Australia's capital, is often overlooked, but I really enjoyed my time there. It has a calm, well-planned feel and offers a different perspective on Australia through its national museums, architecture, and cultural landmarks. I spent time touring Parliament House, walking around Lake Burley Griffin, and exploring several of the city’s museums and monuments. It also surprised me with its strong dining scene, which adds a refined layer to the overall experience.
Additional highlights include Adelaide, known for its proximity to premier wine regions, and Newcastle, offering beautiful coastal views and seasonal whale watching.
As you can see, Australia is a vast and rewarding destination. I specialize in helping clients navigate its scale by designing thoughtful, personalized itineraries that balance iconic highlights with unique, high-quality experiences.
