Scuba diving in Bonaire!

The Caribbean is a region I return to time and time again. Each island I have visited is distinct, offering its own character, culture, and pace. From quiet beach escapes to vibrant culinary scenes, there are endless ways to unwind, explore, and experience the beauty of the region.

One of my top recommended destinations is Anguilla, where I have spent over a month getting to know the island in depth. It is one of the Caribbean’s premier beach destinations, known for its white sand, crystal-clear waters, and refined sense of luxury. With exceptional villas, top-tier resorts, and an outstanding dining scene, it’s ideal for both a relaxing escape and a romantic honeymoon. It really is a special place!

Just a short ferry ride away is Saint Martin / Sint Maarten, a lively hub divided between French and Dutch influence. I first visited over 15 years ago and continue to return, having spent more than six weeks exploring the island. The French side offers excellent dining, boutique shopping, and scenic landscapes, while the Dutch side brings energy, nightlife, and beautiful beaches.

For a more off-the-beaten-path experience, I recommend Saba and Sint Eustatius, two of my favorite islands in the region. These islands offer a quieter, more untouched Caribbean, with some of the region’s best diving and hiking. On Saba, I’ve personally hiked Mount Scenery, the island’s iconic peak and the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and on Sint Eustatius, I’ve explored The Quill, completing the hike into its dramatic crater and taking in sweeping views of the island.

A short flight away, or accessible by private ferry charter, is Saint Barthélemy (St. Barts), where Caribbean beauty meets European sophistication. Known for its private villas, boutique hotels, fine dining, and luxury shopping, it’s a standout for a more elevated island experience.

Heading south, Aruba remains one of my personal favorites. With consistent sunshine, calm turquoise waters, and a wide range of accommodations, it’s one of the most reliable destinations in the Caribbean.

For diving, Bonaire stands out as one of the best in the region. Its protected marine park and exceptional shore diving made it one of my personal travel highlights. I was also impressed by the island’s amazing culinary scene!

Finally, Puerto Rico remains a standout for me. It offers an ideal blend of accessibility, culture, and natural beauty. From private villas to luxury resorts, it’s a destination that delivers both ease and depth.
