About Me

Hawaii
Hawaii

While most travelers flock to the energy of Honolulu, I’ve found that the soul of Oahu truly reveals itself on the North Shore. It’s a place where the pace slows down, the lifestyle is laid-back, and the scenery is framed by the stunning Ko’olau Mountains. Whether you are looking for a daring adventure or a serene botanical escape, here is how I recommend experiencing the island.

The North Shore Experience: If you’re looking for world-class surfing, the winter months (December to March) are the time to be at Banzai Pipeline to watch the championship contests. For those who prefer calmer waters and a quieter atmosphere, I suggest visiting from mid-April to early June or September to mid-December.Stay: The North Shore offers a more intimate connection to the coast. You’ll find iconic stays like Turtle Bay Resort, the Marriott, or even the Four Seasons nearby. You must at least get in the water at least once, and relax on the beach, sun bathe, and watch the kids build sandcastles. Enjoy the beauty around you.

Getting Around: I recommend renting a vehicle (book well in advance!) to cruise the Kamehameha Highway. The ocean views are breathtaking and perfect for a quick photo op. I love this area, stunning and scenic, something you'd see on a postcard. If you prefer public transit, grab a Holo card for the bus, or use Uber and Lyft which are active in the area.

A Pro Tip on Funds: To avoid high exchange fees, grab cash from an ATM right when you land at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. While  in Waikiki cards are widely accepted, having cash is essential for the roadside fruit stands you'll encounter.

Unforgettable Adventures

Cage-Free Shark Dive: For something bold and daring, head to Haleiwa Harbor. Floating near sharks with expert watermen is a perspective-shifting experience you won’t soon forget.

Snorkeling: Sharks Cove is a local favorite for its shallow, clear water. If you didn't pack gear, there are shops nearby to buy goggles. For a more structured experience, Hanauma Bay is spectacular, but remember to make your online reservations exactly two days in advance.

Waimea Valley: Just across from the beach park, this former religious site is now a lush botanical garden. I love walking the cultural path toward the waterfall for a swim—just be sure to bring water shoes! Along the way you can see the beauty and you can watch a Hawaiian Hula Performance. The movements of the Hawaiians are beautiful and graceful. A spectacular performance.

Local Flavors & Island Bites: Oahu’s food scene is a highlight of any trip. Here are a few of my personal staples:

The Sunrise Shack: A bright yellow spot near Sunset Beach. Their coffee and banana bread are the perfect morning fuel.

Kono’s Haleiwa: You have to try their tender pork sliders and a milkshake for ultimate comfort food, that are a must try.

Matsumoto’s Shave Ice: No trip to Haleiwa Town is complete without a customizable shave ice to cool down while browsing the local art galleries, and the art galleries are simply beautiful, you can come home with the perfect keepsakes for yourself and others. The photographs I've taken with picture frames artfully made in Hawaii was the perfect keepsake for my trip.

Foodland Kaneohe: Don’t overlook the local grocery store! Their Poke is some of the freshest you’ll find, and it pairs perfectly with fresh coconut water. There's fresh local ingredients to make your own delicious dishes.

Kahuku Food Trucks: Visit the Kahuku Sugar Mill for a Terry Somoah Burger at Seven Brothers or the famous garlic shrimp at Da Bald Guy. You can take your plate next door to the Kahuku Beer Garden for a shaded spot to sit, and you can purchase a brew or a cold beverage from Kahuku Beer Gardens to cool down.

Scenic Hikes & Serene Spaces

Lanikai Pillbox: This is a short but steep 30-minute hike. I highly recommend going at sunrise; the uneven trail is worth every bit of the view.

Byodo-In Temple: A stunning Buddhist temple that offers a calm, serene space with beautiful koi ponds. Note: They are "card only" for the admission fee This place is beautiful, the whole family must see it.

Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden: If you want to get off the beaten path, this is a photogenic, peaceful escape. It’s free to enter and open until 4:00 PM. It's a great open space for kids to play and for people to see.

Kualoa Ranch: Famous as a filming location for many movies, you can explore this landscape via zipline, horseback, or shuttle. There are tours and these tours tend to last 1-3 hours depending on the type of tour you reserved. The Horseback tour is one of my favorites, its slow, and connects you with nature in such a peaceful way.

Oahu is a beautiful balance of adventure and relaxation. Whether you're watching the green sea turtles at Laniakea Beach (from a respectful distance!) or hiking the Koko Tramway steps, there is a rhythm here that stays with you long after you leave.

My cousins and I took a Family Trip to Carins Austraillia and we had so much fun. Fun doesn't begin to describe it. We rode in a helicopter and saw the views and saw the land from above which was spectacular. We scuba dived and saw the marine life in the Austrailia waters. On the land we rode the Ferris Wheels and met locals around the area. It was an amazing bonding expierence. Krystal told us to check out Carins Markets and we went to local fairs that had works of art and souvineers to remember our travels. We had an amazing adventure and Krystal was so professional. She is our chosen advisor for life!

Krystal made my trip effortless. She put me in a Hotel with a Casino and me and a few buds booked our travel through her and she is fantastic. We gambled. I got back more than I put in. We went on rides at the top of the Strat, ate good food. Met some cool people and Krystal arranged for a personal welcome at the Hotel and she was just wonderful to work with. She is an amazing advisor!

Navigating The Big Apple, New York City
Krystal has been an excellent Travel Advisor,& she will advise all the trips I go on from here on out. I decided to drive to NYC on a whim & it was the most cost efficient way to get there, so I rented a car from Enterprise. Once I got there I checked into my Hotel, and stayed in The Marriott Marquis. A modern hotel in Broadway, New York I had a clean and cozy room that had breathtaking views of the city surrounding the hotel. At Krystal's recommendation I went to Summit One Vanderbilt, its an amazing observation deck, and has a stunning view of the city, the Empire Sate Building is in site and is an excellent place to get on the platform & get some photos. I ate at Los Tacos No. 1 in Chelsea Market and I can't forget the Taco's that Krystal suggested, and walking the High Line and The American Museum of National History was spectacular. She pointed out shopping areas and places like walking through China Town, and seeing the Statue of Liberty. It's something you must see. I had fun!
