New York City is truly the city that never sleeps, and my recent trip there was a whirlwind of neon lights, incredible food, and views that took my breath away. From the moment I stepped into the bustle of Times Square, I knew I was in for an unforgettable journey.
Cty Views & Urban Escapes: I spent a lot of my time exploring the city’s incredible parks and heights. Walking through Central Park was a highlight,I made sure to find the Bethesda Fountain and the iconic Belvedere Castle. For a completely different vibe, I headed over to the High Line, an elevated park on an old railway line that offers amazing city views and unique greenery. When it came to seeing the skyline, I tried a few different perspectives:Summit One Vanderbilt: This was a total adventure! It’s a multi-sensory experience with glass mirrors and art installations that felt like stepping into the future.Top of the Rock: I loved the three-level platform at Rockefeller Center; it’s a dream for photography.
The Classics: I couldn’t miss the Empire State Building or the One World Observatory for those sweeping, "top of the world" feelings. The Empire State building was my stepping stone to tackling my fear of heights. I was so afraid going up that elevator but, the view is magnificent, and frightful for people like me. But it's a must try. I checked that off my bucket list of places to explore. It's just an iconic place that people need to see. The One World Observatory gives you feelings like you are standing on the top of the world. It's an unforgettable experience.
History & Cultural Landmarks: I started one of my mornings at The Battery, where the waterfront views are stunning. I took the ferry out to see Lady Liberty and visited Ellis Island. It was a deeply personal experience exploring the National Museum of Immigration, where I actually got to look into family immigration records.Back on Manhattan, I visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, a moving tribute that really puts the city's history into perspective. I also made sure to stop by Grand Central Terminal to admire the historic architecture and the New York Public Library to see the original Winnie the Pooh stuffed animals,a must for anyone who grew up with the stories!
Museums : The American Museum of Natural History is a must see. Fun for adults and kids. There are amazing exhibits, dinosaur structures, and various animal displays. This is a an event the whole family can enjoy! I loved it!
A True New York Food Tour: You can't go to New York and not eat your way through the boroughs! I found that the food is amazing, and it doesn't always have to be expensive.
The Staples: I grabbed a thin, fold-able slice at Joe’s Pizza on Carmine St., the pizza is amazing. After Pizza I braved the lines at Katz’s Delicatessen. The pastrami sandwich is a bit pricey, but it’s huge and well worth it. Now, I must inform you that since they are a bit pricey, that they do give you a lot of meat and it forms a decent sized sandwich that you can split with someone or have leftovers for later, so the sandwich's are very filling.
Market Eats: In the Chelsea Market, I had the best tacos of my life at Los Tacos No. 1. Now, I love Tacos. This place knows how to make an authentic taco. You've got to try it. It's mouth-watery goodness.
Sweet Treats: My personal favorite was the Salted Caramel cheesecake at Eileen’s. It's simple, sweet and decadent. For something lighter, the banana pudding at Magnolia Bakery is amazing, the locals love it.
The Classics: I even made it out to Coney Island for a Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog on the boardwalk.
Exploring the Neighborhoods: I loved the contrast between the different areas. I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge for the pictures and explored DUMBO, (Down Under The Manhattan Bridge) where I got that perfect shot of the Manhattan Bridge with the Empire State Building framed in the background.
At Coney Island: People can explore the boardwalk & ride the Carnvial like rides and ride the Cyclone roller-coaster, there's tons of Carnival like activities for the whole family.
There's 5th Avenue where you can stroll around and shop around at the shops and boutiques that sell an array of things from toys to apparel and even electronics.
Parks: In Brooklyn, I found Prospect Park to be a hidden gem; it has endless paths for walking and a great splash pad for kids to cool down.I even took the Staten Island Ferry, which is free and runs 24/7—to get out on the water, and rode the Roosevelt Island Tram for a cable car view of the city. I was browsed the Harry Potter Store. You must see the Harry Potter store if you are a fan. You can have a glass of butter beer, shop for wands and merchandise. Harry Potter Fans must see it! You can take beautiful photographs near the Flatiron Building, I did. I even watched the street performers at Washington Square Park, there was never a dull moment. New York really is a melting pot of everything, and I can't wait to go back! It's an amazing expierence.
