I am from Spain, Barcelona and as a child I used travel all around the country with my family.
My first trip out of the country was to England, London and when I was 18 I lived in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, for a year. I was amazed with how friendly the locals are and how delicious patat met mayo are! And everybody speaks English!
The Netherlands is a highly progressive, low-lying European country famous for its flat landscapes of picturesque canals, historic windmills, and expansive tulip fields.
Amsterdam is a world-renowned city celebrated for its intricate UNESCO-listed canal rings, artistic legacy, and vibrant cycling lifestyle. Known colloquially as the "Venice of the North," the city blends beautifully preserved 17th-century Golden Age architecture with a highly progressive, modern urban vibe. A premier cultural destination, packed with elite museums, scenic waterways, and legendary neighborhoods.
Famous museums I always recommend you to visit;
Rijksmuseum: The Netherlands' largest national museum, located on Museumstraat. It features 800 years of Dutch history and art, famously housing Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and Vermeer’s The Milkmaid.
Van Gogh Museum: Located right next door, this museum holds the world’s largest collection of Vincent van Gogh's paintings, drawings, and letters.
Stedelijk Museum: Amsterdam’s premier museum for modern and contemporary art and design, known for its extensive collection of works by Piet Mondrian and Gerrit Rietveld.
Rembrandt House Museum (Museum Het Rembrandthuis): Located in the heart of the city, this is the restored 17th-century home and studio where Rembrandt lived and worked for nearly two years.
I always recommend a canal cruise, the classic way to tour the city, offering unique water-level views of historic gabled houses, charming brick bridges, and city life.
I walking tour that includes Anne Frank's House: where she and her family hid during World War II.
The Jordaan & De Pijp: Picturesque neighborhoods filled with cozy boutique shops, narrow streets, popular outdoor markets, and a thriving cafe scene.
Vondelpark: The city's expansive, premier green space, perfect for cycling, walking, or enjoying an outdoor picnic
Must-try local specialties include:
Stroopwafel: The ultimate Dutch sweet. Two thin, crispy waffles glued together with a rich, gooey caramel syrup.
Bitterballen: Deep-fried, crispy, savory meatballs filled with a molten beef ragout. They are the quintessential bar snack, best enjoyed with a local beer and mustard.
Vlaamse Frites (Dutch Fries): Thick, crispy fries loaded generously with toppings. Try patatje oorlog (topped with peanut satay sauce, mayonnaise, and raw onions).
Dutch Apple Pie: Amsterdam is famous for its towering, buttery, cinnamon-spiced apple pies, traditionally topped with a mountain of fresh whipped cream.
Amsterdam definitely belongs to your bucket list!
In Amsterdam tour guides must have a diploma, they are all professionals and I make sure to get the best four you. I always find the best hotel to my clients and make sure they have the best service they need.
I came back to Barcelona and since I have always worked in the cruise industry, my first job was as in a travel agency having all cruise lines as clients. Cruise ships dock at the Port of Barcelona there are we prepared embarkation and disembarkation of guests, transfers to the airport, to the hotels we worked with for pre and post packages and excursions.
My weekend trips were all around Europe; Denmark, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Norway, Sweden, always in the winter.
I was always working in the summer so I spent many hours at the port, as a Manager making sure everything was running smoothly and soon Royal Caribbean offered me a job to work at the Guest Relations Desk on board of a ship out of Miami.
During that time I visited all Caribbean islands and took all the shore excursions. I was on board of ships for five years until decided to leave ships and live in Miami.
Once in Miami I worked with Royal Caribbean, Celebrity y and Azamara's Private Journeys worldwide, Private Shore Excursions in any port where guests requested a private arrangement.
After that Intercruises hired me to work as Americas Shore Excursions Manager, shore excursions in all U.S. port and Canada for all cruise lines: Princes, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Holland America, and all the others. I was also in charge of groups that had pre and post packages: hotels, excursions and different events.
I was always travelling and doing something that I loved. Often in New York, Boston, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Vancouver, and many others.
Unfortunately the pandemic hit hard the cruise industry and I lost my job and didn't work for two years.
After that I decided that with my experience I could be a god Travel Advisor doing something that I love and creating unforgettable experiences for my clients.
