About Me

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

South Carolina surprised me in the best way. I’ve always believed that the best trips are the ones that blend ease with excitement where the days feel full but never rushed, and the memories sneak up on you in the quiet moments. That’s exactly what Myrtle Beach gave my family and me. This wasn’t just a vacation; it was a reset, a laugh-filled, food-forward, sun-kissed chapter that reminded us why traveling together matters.

From the second we crossed into South Carolina, there was a shift. The air felt warmer in a welcoming way, the pace felt slower but intentional, and there was this undeniable coastal charm that wrapped itself around us. Myrtle Beach has a reputation, sure but until you experience it with your people, you don’t quite understand how many layers it has. It’s playful and laid-back, flashy in some spots and quietly beautiful in others. It’s the kind of place that lets you be exactly who you are.

Myrtle Beach greets you with color and motion. Palm trees sway like they’re in on a secret, the ocean stretches endlessly in front of you, and there’s always something happening music drifting from a boardwalk speaker, laughter from a passing group, the hum of vacation joy. The beach itself is wide and inviting, with soft sand that somehow stays cool under your feet in the morning and warm by the afternoon.

Our first walk along the shoreline set the tone. Shoes off, toes in the sand, the kids racing ahead while the adults lingered behind, talking and laughing like time didn’t exist. The Atlantic rolled in steady and calm, not too wild, not too sleepy just right. Myrtle Beach feels designed for families. You don’t have to work hard to make memories here; they come naturally.

Choosing the right place to stay matters, especially when you’re traveling as a family. We wanted something comfortable, close to the action, but still peaceful enough to truly unwind. Myrtle Beach delivers on that balance beautifully. Our accommodations felt like a home base somewhere we could start our mornings slow with coffee on the balcony and end our nights tired in the best way.

Waking up to ocean views never gets old. The sound of waves became our alarm clock, and salty air filled the room before we even opened the door. There’s something grounding about that like the ocean reminding you to breathe a little deeper.

If you’re a food lover, Myrtle Beach is going to treat you well. South Carolina cuisine is rich, soulful, and rooted in tradition. This is Low country influence at its finest simple ingredients turned into unforgettable meals.

Seafood is the star here, and it’s fresh in a way you can taste immediately. Shrimp and grits became a favorite for us creamy, savory, perfectly seasoned, and comforting without being heavy. Fried shrimp baskets, crab legs cracked open with laughter at the table, flaky fish sandwiches eaten with sandy hands every bite felt like part of the experience.Oysters are another local favorite, especially when they’re in season. Steamed, fried, or raw, they’re treated with respect here. Add a squeeze of lemon, a dash of hot sauce, and suddenly you understand why people plan trips around food alone.

South Carolina doesn’t play when it comes to comfort food. We indulged in:

Low country boil loaded with shrimp, corn, potatoes, and sausage Pulled pork barbecue, slow-cooked and smoky

Hush puppies crispy on the outside, soft on the inside

Collard greens with deep, savory flavor

And let’s not forget the sauces.

South Carolina barbecue is known for its mustard-based sauce, and once you try it, you get it. Tangy, bold, and different in the best way.

Some of our best moments were the simplest ones. Long beach days where the only plan was to relax, play, and enjoy each other. Umbrellas planted in the sand, towels laid out, sunscreen everywhere. The kids built sandcastles while we watched the tide come in, snapping photos we still look back on.
