I'm Rick, founder of Travelers Roam, and I design journeys for people who want more from travel than a checklist of landmarks. My focus is archaeological, cultural, and regenerative travel. That means trips built around ancient civilizations, living traditions, and experiences that give back to the communities and landscapes you visit. I specialize in small group and private tours across Mesoamerica, the Middle East, Egypt, the Mediterranean, South America, Polynesia, and Southeast Asia.
What draws me to this work is a deep curiosity about how ancient cultures shaped the world we live in today. I've spent years studying and exploring archaeological sites across multiple continents, not as a casual tourist, but as someone who genuinely wants to understand what happened at these places and why it still matters. That knowledge shapes every itinerary I build.
I work with carefully vetted tour operators known for expert local guides, responsible practices, and a pace that lets you actually absorb what you're experiencing. No megabus tourism. No surface-level photo stops. My trips are designed for travelers who want real access, thoughtful context, and moments that stick with you long after you get home.
I also care deeply about how travel impacts the places it touches. Regenerative travel is central to what I do. That means selecting locally owned accommodations, community-led experiences, and conservation-minded partners so your trip actively strengthens the destination rather than just passing through it.
Whether you're standing inside a pyramid in Egypt, exploring Maya temples in the Yucatan jungle, walking the ruins of Petra, or sharing a meal with a family in Oaxaca, my goal is the same: to create a journey that informs, challenges, and changes you.
If you're a curious traveler looking for depth over convenience, let's talk. I'd love to help you plan something meaningful.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to be an archaeology expert to join these trips?
Not at all. These journeys are designed for curious travelers at every level, from lifelong enthusiasts to those newly discovering their interest.
Are these trips physically demanding?
Activity levels vary by destination, but I clearly communicate expectations in advance and prioritize reasonable pacing and comfort.
Do you only offer group tours?
I specialize in small group journeys but also design custom itineraries for individuals, couples, and private groups. I also offer Pre and Post options for those wishing to extend their trip.
A Little More About Me
When I’m not planning journeys, you’ll usually find me reading about newly uncovered archaeological sites, researching regenerative resorts and hotels, traveling with my family, riding my gravel bike, or playing a round of disc golf. Curiosity doesn’t shut off just because I’m home.
