La Concordia Hotel in Casco Viejo

Panama can be done for $1,500—or $15,000. The difference isn’t simply where you stay. It’s access, timing, and an understanding of the country that only comes from truly knowing it.For some, Panama is a quick stop—another destination checked off a list. For others, it becomes something far more layered: a place where modern skyline, rainforest, indigenous culture, and untouched coastline exist within a single, seamless journey. The difference lies in how the experience is designed.

Luxury in Panama is not defined by excess. It is defined by intention.

It begins with how you move. Private transfers replace logistical guesswork, whether that means a driver waiting as you step out of Casco Viejo’s narrow streets or a charter flight cutting across jungle and coastline. Time becomes fluid, not scheduled.

It continues with who guides you. The difference between a standard tour and a curated experience is often invisible until you are in it. A private guide who understands pace, preference, and nuance transforms familiar destinations into something personal. The Panama Canal becomes more than an engineering marvel. The rainforest becomes more than scenery. Even a simple boat ride becomes a story.

And then there is access.

Many travelers visit places like San Blas, Bocas del Toro, or the highlands of Boquete. Far fewer experience them in a way that feels untouched. In San Blas, for example, the difference is not the islands—it is how you arrive, who you meet, and what unfolds once you are there. With the right approach, days are not structured around itineraries, but around rhythm: snorkeling in waters chosen by someone who knows them intimately, sharing meals prepared by local families, or simply understanding a culture that has remained preserved for generations.

A well-designed seven-day journey through Panama flows effortlessly between contrasts. It might begin in Panama City, where Casco Viejo offers one of the most compelling dining scenes in Central America—rooftop evenings, quiet courtyards, and a sense of history layered into every street. From there, the experience shifts outward. A private crossing of the Panama Canal, a few days in the San Blas Islands—by catamaran or alongside local Guna communities—and time in the rainforest around Gamboa, where wildlife and stillness replace the pace of the city.

The journey often ends in Valle de Antón, a quiet mountain town set within the crater of an ancient volcano. Cooler air, cloud forest trails, and a slower rhythm provide contrast to everything that came before.

What does a trip like this actually look like in terms of investment? In most cases, luxury accommodations range between $400 and $1,000 per night, with private guiding and experiences tailored daily. Exclusive San Blas experiences—whether aboard a private vessel or through immersive cultural stays—vary widely depending on how deeply one wants to engage. Logistics, often the invisible layer of any well-executed journey, quietly shape the entire experience.

And yet, what defines the trip is not cost—it is clarity.

Where many travelers get it wrong is not in what they choose to see, but how they choose to see it. Large group tours, over-scheduled itineraries, and a lack of local context often flatten what should be a dynamic experience. Panama, in particular, is often compared to Costa Rica—but the two offer fundamentally different journeys. Costa Rica is structured, nature-driven, and resort-oriented. Panama is more nuanced—blending culture, city, and nature into something less predictable, and often more personal.

It rewards those who approach it differently.

After nearly three decades of living in Panama, certain things become second nature—knowing which islands remain quiet, which guides offer something beyond the expected, and how to move through the country in a way that feels effortless. Relationships matter. Access matters. And over time, the experience shifts from visiting a destination to being welcomed into it.

Panama can be simple. Or it can be unforgettable.

The difference is rarely visible at first—but it is felt in every moment once you arrive.

Panama family vacation
Reviewed By Lisa - Muskego, WI | Traveled to Panama | Central America
I was looking for our family to go to Panama for a spring break getaway as my husband was stationed there a long time ago and always wanted to go back and revisit. I joined a Panama Facebook group and saw a post from Jaurymeth’s husband promoting her as a travel advisor for Panama. Not knowing what to expect, I reached out for tips and suggestions on how to plan my trip. I usually plan my own trips, but not being familiar with this area and seeing the post, I thought what a great thing to talk to someone that specialized in this area in particular. She was amazing and awesome from beginning to end. I would highly recommend her for not only Panama planning, but anything. She had excellent communication, was very through, had excellent suggestions, very trustworthy, looking out for the customers best interests and even helped handle an issue we had with our accommodations while we were there. She even followed up with me when I returned. Hard to find great people like this these days. She treated me like a friend. Highly recommend!!

The trip that keeps on giving…
Reviewed By Linda - Independence, Mo | Traveled to Kansas City | Missouri | USA
Jaurymeth Wofford helped us plan our annual trip to The Elms Resort in Excelsior Spring, Mo. (Suburb of Kansas City) We originally planned the trip for for 1/23/20026. Durning that time, the weather forecast predicted a sever storm with blizzard conditions and several inches of snow. We asked Jaury to reschedule the trip for the following weekend. Within 20 minutes, it was rescheduled and a new itinerary was sent to our email. Her service was very professional and prompt. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her service again for future trips for friends and family. ?? Linda

What happens in Vegas...
Reviewed By Sophia - Denver | Traveled to Las Vegas | Nevada | USA
I’ve been to Vegas plenty of times, but this trip was the first time I let a travel advisor take over—and honestly, I’m so glad I did. I gave Jaurymeth a list of places I didn’t want to stay, and she surprised me with the Bellagio. Great choice. We spent a few days enjoying the Strip, then did a tour of the Hoover Dam, and she even booked a city tour that pointed out all the cool details I’d never noticed before—from the Bellagio fountains to the chandeliers to how massive the Fremont Street “TV” actually is. Even after all my past trips, I was seriously impressed with how much she put together for my family. It almost made Vegas feel brand new.
I would recommend this agent to my family and friends.
