I grew up taking family road trips all over the United States, most often visiting National Parks and the Wild West. My love for travel grew at a young age. My first vacation memory at 6 years old, takes us to a little mouse house in central Florida where my Dad had a work conference. Throughout my adult years of travel, I would jokingly say, “blame my parents, they took us all over on vacations growing up.”It’s a contagion, travel. But one of the best kinds.

The more I travel, the more I love it and want to keep going- experiencing new places and returning to familiar places that feel like home. The more exposure I got to people, places, food, cultures, nature, made my little corner of Iowa seem small (albeit home) and I was eager for more.

Fifteen years ago, I ventured on my first vacation overseas with my two sisters and a few friends. We found a travel agency that provided bus tours of Europe. Being in my early 20’s, never being outside of North America, and not speaking any other language fluently, this seems like the sure-fire way to experience something outside of my world and a little less scary than trying to figure it out on our own.We traveled for the first time across the Atlantic Ocean to start our journey in London, ferried crossed the English Channel and completed a big clockwise circle around Europe. The details of our trip is for another time, but we ended our European Road trip in Paris, having visited eight countries in total, seeing all the sites, tastes and sounds of each location; building bonds with our fellow bus mates and our tour guide along the way.

We loved our experience so much with that travel agency, our tour guide, and their offering of the bus tour - where they take care of everything for you - my two sisters and I booked a second trip with them shortly after coming home. And we were off to Ireland a year and a half later. Excited to travel through Ireland, I was glad to get to experience my second trip again with both of my sisters. And! Our favorite travel guide from the tour agency was assigned to this tour as well! We were so happy to have her with us - cherished memories of our time together again. My favorite memory with her: sipping whiskey at an Irish castle chatting by the fire in the lobby before we headed off to bed. During this trip, I thought, “What an amazing job she has. Guiding people through incredible travel destinations! How do I do that?” A fleeting thought that didn’t seem like a reality.

Fast forward to 2024, after talking vacations and travel dreams with a friend, the opportunity to become a travel advisor fell in my lap. With a little conversation and little hesitation, I said yes! I want to do this! And, now, here I am!

After many years of assisting friends and family with travel questions and personalized recommendations based on my own travel experiences, I’m proud to now celebrate two years as an official Travel Advisor. And I’m just getting started!!

I truly feel fortunate to have found this opportunity in helping others discover and experience the incredible destinations all around our globe.
