Bali is an absolute dream come true, and I did not want to leave! Bali is a lush paradise where wild adventure meets spiritual serenity. Whether your perfect wake-up consists of sun salutations under the swaying palms, listening to surf-ready waves while sipping Kopi Luwak coffee, or heading out for a hidden jungle trek, Bali is waiting for you. Flying into Denpasar International Airport I already knew Bali had my heart, but as soon as I deplaned and traveled south to the Bukit peninsula, I knew I would forever be in awe and in love.
The sun soaked beaches of Bali are unmatched. From black sand beaches, to soft white sand beaches with hidden coves, to the always jaw dropping turquoise waters, every beach is ready to entice. Not to mention the surf-ready waves of Canggu where even the beginner of beginners can feel like a pro to the world-class breaks of Uluwatu. Surfing in Bali creates a rhythm to life that stays in your soul.
The emerald rice terraces of Ubud are brilliant, living, breathing landscapes that stop you in your tracks. Carved into the hillsides of the island, these rice paddies offer a look into the hum of daily life on Bali. The layered green stairways stretch for miles and miles and offer a sense of peace and timelessness. A hike among the paddies, or a bike along the paddies will leave you feeling grounded and connected. It can also lead you to a traditional Balinese cooking class where you harvest straight from the fields. A cooking class in Bali is unlike any other cooking class. The knowledge from the chef, the feeling of making food straight from the earth, it becomes the most delicious wonder.
Bali can be a destination of relaxation and reflection, but it can also be a destination of adventure and thrills. After surfing, white water rafting is the next best adventure (in my opinion) on the island. The Ayung River is perfect for beginners, and novices as well. Seeing the island from the water is an experience I encourage everyone to partake in. And a white water raft is one of the best modes of transportation.
Monkeys are considered sacred animals in Balinese Hinduism. Often associated with protection, mischief, and divine presence, they are especially revered in temple settings, like the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud or the Uluwatu Temple, where they are believed to guard the spirits of the temple. The Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary is a place that feels both wild and spiritual. The monkeys are wild, yet they observe and play with you. Not only will they taunt and take free hanging or standing items, but they will steady and calm you. These spiritual mammals are seen as sacred guardians, reminders to all of the delicate balance between spirit, nature and everyday life.
Bali is more than just a destination, it’s a feeling. Whether you're seeking a sun drenched relaxed vacation, a spiritual connection with morning flows, afternoons spent observing monkeys, or hiking in the jungle and emerging refreshed and ready to start cooking; Bali is ready, and waiting for you.
