About Me

Guyana and Suriname, two neighboring countries on the northeastern coast of South America, are often overlooked travel gems — but their beauty is nothing short of remarkable. Each offers a rich blend of pristine nature, diverse cultures, and unique histories.

Here's a look at the beauty of both:

Guyana: The Land of Many Waters

1. Natural Wonders

Kaieteur Falls: One of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, five times taller than Niagara Falls and surrounded by untouched rainforest.

Rainforests and Wildlife: Over 80% of Guyana is covered in forest. It's a biodiversity hotspot home to jaguars, giant river otters, harpy eagles, and more.

Rupununi Savannah: Vast grasslands with indigenous villages, eco-lodges, and unique wildlife such as giant anteaters and caimans.

2. Cultural Diversity

A mix of Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, Indigenous peoples, and other communities, creating a rich cultural mosaic.

Festivals like Mashramani, a vibrant celebration of Guyanese independence, blend Caribbean rhythms with local traditions.

3. Architecture & Urban Charm

Georgetown, the capital, showcases beautiful wooden colonial architecture, including St. George’s Cathedral, one of the tallest wooden churches in the world.

Colorful markets and a laid-back Caribbean vibe make the city unique.

Suriname: The Hidden Jewel of the Amazon

1. Untouched Nature

Central Suriname Nature Reserve: A UNESCO World Heritage Site with dense jungle, dramatic rivers, and a haven for ecotourism.

Brownsberg and Raleighvallen: Great for hiking, birdwatching, and waterfalls. The Amazonian rainforest dominates the south, where nature remains largely pristine.

2. Multicultural Harmony

Suriname is a blend of Javanese, Hindustani (Indian), Creole, Maroon, Indigenous, Chinese, and Dutch influences — a peaceful coexistence reflected in cuisine, religion, and language.

Paramaribo, the capital, is home to a mosque and synagogue side by side, symbolizing religious harmony.

3. Historic Charm

Paramaribo’s historic inner city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Dutch colonial architecture, creole townhouses, and wide tree-lined avenues.

Fort Zeelandia and the Waterkant (riverside boulevard) reflect centuries of layered history.

Shared Beauty & Cultural Depth

Though Guyana and Suriname have different colonial histories (British and Dutch, respectively), they share:

A strong Indigenous heritage

Access to unspoiled ecosystems

A rhythm of life that’s deeply connected to nature and tradition

Why Visit?

If you're seeking destinations off the beaten path with adventure, authenticity, and heart, Guyana and Suriname offer:

Jungle expeditions

Cultural immersion

Incredible birdwatching and wildlife spotting

Delicious and varied cuisine

Warm, welcoming communities

Great Experience Thanks to Andrew! Andrew planned an amazing trip for me to the north side of Haiti in June 2024. I stayed at the beautiful Satama Hotel in Cap-Haïtien, visited the Citadelle and Palais Sans Souci in Milot, and ended my trip relaxing in Labadi at the stunning Île Rat. Everything went smoothly, and I felt safe and well taken care of the entire time. The mix of history, culture, and relaxation was perfect. Andrew made the whole experience stress-free and memorable. Highly recommend!

Journey through Estonia
Andrew exceeded all expectations when he planned out my trip to Estonia. He went that extra mile to do detailed research to find interesting and unique experiences that I would have never found on my own. I don't get to travel as often as I would like, so when I invest my time and money on a trip I really want to get the most of it. Andrew was able to deliver that because he takes the time to learn about destinations to ensure you have a tailor-made adventure that fits your interests. If you're thinking about traveling, I'd recommend using his services time and again.
