I'm Kristy Johnson — travel advisor, corporate refugee, wife, mom to two daughters, independent Stampin' Up demonstrator, and the person who approaches a trip itinerary the same way I approach any creative project: with obsessive attention to detail, a clear sense of narrative, and the conviction that the best journeys feel intentional from the first day to the last.

MY BACKGROUND

I spent over two decades in corporate America — in sales, marketing leadership, and strategic planning — before I started WonderCrafted Travel. That background isn't incidental to what I do. It's why I'm good at it. Managing a 14-day, four-country European itinerary requires the same skills as managing a complex product launch: anticipating problems before they happen, building contingencies, coordinating across multiple parties, and never losing sight of what the experience is supposed to feel like for the person at the center of it.

I'm based in Glen Carbon, Illinois (the St. Louis Metro East area), and I serve clients across the country. I've traveled to over 25 countries (and counting) across five continents — as a traveler, a researcher, and an advisor trying to understand what makes one experience genuinely transformative and another simply forgettable. What I've learned: the difference is almost never the destination. It's the depth.

My love for travel comes with the credentials to back it up. I'm certified for both Greece and Italy through their national tourism boards, and I hold my "Discover Central Europe" certification. I'm also a certified Mexpert and a Hawaii Certified Destination Expert, the highest level of accreditation offered through Hawaii's tourism board. Through Travel Leaders Network, I've also earned my Certified Leisure Travel Specialist designation, and I'm a proud member of ASTA. Beyond travel, I'm active in my local Chamber of Commerce and volunteer with a local service organization, because being invested in my community matters just as much to me as helping others explore the world.

THE CREATIVE SIDE:

I'm also an independent Stampin' Up demonstrator, scrapbooker, and paper crafter, a creative community I'm proud to be part of. That creative sensibility shapes how I think about every journey: the detail, the story arc, the way individual days connect into something worth documenting and remembering long after you're home.

It's not an accident that "Crafted" is in my company name, WonderCrafted Travel. Every itinerary I design comes together the way a skilled artisan approaches their work: with precision, a deep understanding of the person it's being made for, and no tolerance for generic. No templates. No copy-paste itineraries. No "this worked for my last client, so it'll work for you."It also shows up in small, concrete ways.

Every client receives a handmade welcome-home card when they return, because a journey that was thoughtfully planned deserves a thoughtful ending. And for group trips I host, I incorporate crafting and memory-keeping into the experience itself: travel journals, creative workshops, and time to begin documenting the trip before you've even left the destination.
