The moment I stepped off the plane in Orlando, the warm air hit me like a welcome hug. It was that unmistakable Florida warmth — heavy with humidity, but buzzing with energy. I had dreamed of this trip for years, and now that I was finally here, it felt a little surreal.
The drive from the airport to the hotel was a blur of palm trees, billboards for theme parks, and wide, sunny roads. Every few blocks I’d spot a sign for Walt Disney World or Universal Studios, and my inner child practically bounced in the passenger seat.
The first stop was, of course, Magic Kingdom. I don’t care how old you are — when you walk through those gates and see Cinderella’s Castle gleaming at the end of Main Street, something stirs in your chest. It’s like stepping into a story you’ve known forever but are only now living. I stood there for a long moment, taking it all in: the families laughing, the smell of popcorn and churros, the distant sound of the parade music.
I rode Space Mountain twice, screamed too loud on Splash Mountain, and caught the fireworks show with a Mickey-shaped ice cream bar in hand. It was like being ten years old again, only better, because I could stay up as late as I wanted.
The next day was Universal Studios, and that was a whole different kind of magic. Walking through Dragon Alley at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, sipping butterbeer and picking out a wand at Ollivanders — I felt like I had literally stepped into the pages of my favorite book.
By the end of the trip, my feet were sore, my phone was full of pictures, and my heart was a little heavier knowing I’d have to leave. But I knew one thing for sure — Orlando wasn’t a one-time trip. It was a place I’d come back to again, and again.
