Hi, I'm Bryan Coogler, an LGBTQ+ travel specialist with C to Sea Travel.
I'm a gay man, a husband, and an LGBTQ+ parent, and travel has always been something my family does intentionally. We seek out places where we can show up fully as ourselves, where holding hands at dinner doesn't come with a second thought, and where the welcome is genuine rather than just tolerated. I know what it feels like to research a destination wondering whether it's actually safe, and I know how much it means when you land somewhere and realize you never had to worry at all.
That's the experience I want to help you have.
My own experience as an LGBTQ+ traveler:
Last year, I led a group of LGBTQ+ travelers on a cruise through European capitals: Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the Netherlands, among others. I handpicked every excursion with intention, looking for experiences that told the real story of these countries, their long history of acceptance and diversity, and the extraordinary role several of them played during World War II in protecting persecuted communities when it would have been easier not to. Watching our group connect with that history, in those places, with those people, was one of the most meaningful trips I've ever been part of.It's the kind of travel that does something to you. And it's the kind of trip I love building for others.
Destinations I specialize in:
There's a reason certain places keep coming up when LGBTQ+ travelers ask where they feel most at home. Here are some of my favorites:
Europe: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands have long been among the most progressive and welcoming countries in the world. Spain, France, and Ireland each have their own vibrant LGBTQ+ culture, incredible food and history, and cities that feel alive in the best possible way.
Latin America and the Caribbean: Puerto Vallarta is one of the most welcoming destinations in the world, full stop. Puerto Rico combines a rich local culture with strong LGBTQ+ protections and a warm community. Aruba is consistently ranked among the most inclusive islands in the Caribbean.
I stay current on destination safety, legal protections, and the cultural climate in each of these places, because the fine print matters.
Cruise lines I recommend:
Not every cruise line is created equal when it comes to inclusivity, and I've done the homework. The lines I most often recommend for LGBTQ+ travelers are:
- Virgin Voyages, which has built an adults-only, intentionally inclusive culture from the ground up
- Celebrity Cruises, long recognized for its welcoming environment and strong presence at Pride events
- Princess Cruises, where I've sailed personally and seen that inclusive culture in action
- MSC Cruises, which has made meaningful strides in LGBTQ+ inclusion across its fleet
I can help you understand the differences between these lines, match you with the right ship and itinerary, and make sure the experience lines up with what you're actually looking for.
Who I work with:
I work with LGBTQ+ travelers of all kinds: couples celebrating milestones, solo travelers wanting to connect with community, families with kids, groups of friends, and people who have simply never felt like travel was designed with them in mind. If that last one resonates, I especially want to hear from you.
I also understand that LGBTQ+ families come in many forms. As an LGBTQ+ parent myself, I'm experienced in planning trips that work for non-traditional family structures and that put everyone, kids included, in places where they're welcomed.
How I work:
I ask questions before I make recommendations. Where do you feel most comfortable? Are there places you've felt unwelcome before that you want to avoid? Is this trip about adventure, relaxation, connection, or all three? The answers shape everything. My goal is simple: get you somewhere you'll want to go back to, with someone you trust handling the details.
If you're ready to start planning, I'd love to hear from you.
