Cruising the Norwegian fjords aboard Holland America Line’s MS Rotterdam provided an exceptional opportunity to experience one of Europe’s most dramatic regions while gaining valuable professional insight into premium cruise travel.

The seven day fjord itinerary included four diverse ports, each showcasing a different side of Norway and the surrounding region. In Kristiansand and Leirvik, I participated in high energy RIB boat excursions, offering a thrilling way to explore the coastline while viewing Norway’s scenery from the water. Skjolden was a standout stop, combining immersive scenery with a unique countryside experience, highlighting how small group excursions can add character and depth to a fjord cruise itinerary. The final port of Lerwick in the Shetland Islands introduced the northernmost reaches of Scotland, with dramatic coastal views, wildlife sightings including Shetland ponies and seals, and insight into local history.

Onboard the MS Rotterdam, I explored Holland America Line’s dining and entertainment offerings, including specialty dining at Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto. One of the most memorable onboard experiences was the Holland America Line Orange Party, a lively celebration reflecting the line’s Dutch heritage and social atmosphere.
