I started Two Herons Travel in January 2025. At the time, I was looking forward to my impending retirement from teaching art at a small public school at the foot of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.  Not because I was finishing something, but because I was STARTING something! May 23, 2025 was my last teaching day and I was already training, researching, studying and doing all I could to transition right into becoming a travel advisor.Throughout my years of teaching, I took full advantage of school breaks to plan travel adventures around the world. My parents introduced me and my sister to travel at a young age, teaching us patience, curiosity, and the value of exploring the world beyond our own. I've continued that tradition with my own children—first as wide-eyed young companions, and now as appreciative and still-curious adults.Young, old, or somewhere in between, I truly believe that seeing new ways of the world makes you a better person—whether you realize it or not!Eating fresh Egyptian flatbread straight from a street-side oven, sailing barefoot through the open seas of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, waiting for a local to crack open a coconut, or trying to converse with a fisherman in Greek—these are just a few types of the cultural and meaningful experiences I seek on every trip.Travel is not just a hobby for me. It's not something I do just because I’ve done it for so long. I travel because it brings out the best in me. It humbles me. It fills my soul.The more I talk about travel with others, the more I realize I have a special gift—not just for helping people check destinations off their bucket lists, but for helping them discover the deeper why and how behind their journeys. I place real value on the time, money, and intention that go into a great trip.While I haven’t been to every corner of the globe, I pour my heart and soul into understanding other cultures. Teaching and working with children has always come naturally to me, and I'm excited to grow the part of my business that introduces young adults and children to the wonders of travel.Add parents and grandparents into the mix, and I become a bridge across generations—one who understands the importance of family. A flamenco show in Seville entertains any age. A walk along a beach in Costa Rica is accessible to all. A trip to the Acropolis Museum in Athens teaches children without them realizing it, while adults stand in awe of the history. A river cruise offers something for everyone, and a package trip to South Africa can keep every generation engaged.Going on a vacation with family members of all ages is something no one ever regrets. I love that travel can be the common thread that reconnects families, brings them together year after year, or creates unforgettable moments around a special occasion.One of my favorite aspects of travel planning is the research. Gone are the days of collecting maps and guidebooks to find the perfect hotel or unique restaurant or to figure out how to get tickets to an event. Today, everything is at our fingertips—which may feel overwhelming to some, but for me, it’s a challenge I gladly accept.  I look forward to helping new travelers expand their experience in the world and I want to help that family, solo, friends or couple’s trip come to fruition.Itineraries, bookings, experiences, and reservations—they're all pieces of your travel puzzle, and I love putting that puzzle together.When working with clients, I’m guided by two questions:Will this traveler come home with exciting stories, unforgettable memories, and a new perspective on life?Would I take this trip myself?Two Herons Travel strives to help your travel dreams come true.
