Hello family! My name is Adam Richey, and I am the owner of Big Screen Big World (BSBW) Travel specializing in entertainment travel locales. BSBW Travel can help you get to your favorite film, TV, theater and music destinations. I want to speak about a more personal part of my life right now though, as I am a part of the LGBTQ+ community. My coming-out story was certainly not conventional by any means, but I came out as gay to my family in 2017...at the age of 33. The backstory is different for everyone, but I knew much earlier and just had an irrational fear of my family’s reactions. They all are very accepting, and I’ve been able to live more peacefully as I can be who I truly am. Bring that to where I am at today with Big Screen Big World Travel, and you can see where the allure of LGBTQ+ travel must be an element of my business. I have researched and planned out several dream getaways with my partner of 7 years, and the idea that I could do that for others is too special for me to pass up. Skiing trip to Canada? Romantic getaway to Malta? Hiking in New Zealand’s Abel Tasman National Park? Cape Roca in Portugal? BSBW Travel can make it happen. I can’t deny that some places in the world are not exactly LGBTQ-friendly, but that’s another reason my passion and expertise will help to shape a safe, amazing and unforgettable getaway every single time!
My educational and occupational backgrounds greatly contribute to what I can do at Big Screen Big World Travel. I earned an Associate of Arts degree at Ashford University in Organizational Management in 2014 before going on to Western Governors University, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in I.T. Management for Business in 2018. I have always been a detail-oriented and meticulous person along with my time management skills, but those attributes were kicked into high gear as I navigating online courses to gain my degrees. Punctuation and written communication will also never be an issue. I am a former Spell Bowl champion in high school, and English was a close 2nd favorite in school. Occupational experience comes from an ideal mix of customer service (20+ years), sales (12+ years), operations management (8+ years), PC literacy (20+ years), marketing (8+ years), advertising (8+ years), data analysis (12+ years), data entry (12+ years), fraud detection (10+ years), and time management (16+ years). Though this will be a new adventure in terms of my career industry, I have an unparalleled passion for not just customer service, but building long-lasting relationships with people that will become family by the time everything is done. Sales is another element that I truly enjoy, and my approach is to NEVER pressure someone but try reach a point where we both completely understand each other and the expectations / deliverable results. I have also earned sales achievements with multiple organizations before launching Big Screen Big World Travel. Foundever, Alorica, Family Dollar, Movie Gallery, and HH Gregg have all recognized me for sales achievements. Honesty, active listening, knowledge, and empathy are my behavioral pillars. I am more than happy to laugh, cry, and shout with excitement right along with a person.
A BIT ABOUT ME
I have called Lyman, South Carolina home since October 2018. Kokomo, a small town in central Indiana is my hometown. I wish I could say that it was like the famous Beach Boys song, but it is unfortunately nothing like you hear in the song. It has some character and a few fun activities though. My love of all things entertainment when it relates to film, TV, theater and music expands to a multitude of genres. It can span from classics of the 60’s and 70’s to modern hits of today when it comes to my tastes. Professional wrestling hooked me at a young age, and I’m still a fan but not quite as much now. Still some of my favorite memories are of WWE Wrestlemania 22 at the Rosemont Horizon and Ring of Honor in Chicago with my best friend. Seth Rollins, Gunther, The Usos and Asuka are some of my favorites of today. Hobbies outside of those things are more tame than some may enjoy, as you will never see me go bungee jumping or sky diving. I do, however, embrace some excitement when traveling to new places and experiencing certain new things like cuisine and cultural pastimes. Animals will always hold a special place in my heart since I’ve known them since I was a baby. I have owned dogs, cats, lizards, turtles, fish, hamsters, gerbils, Guinea pigs, cockatiels, parakeets, lovebirds, an African gray parrot and even a pot-bellied pit that once saved our home during a fire. The roster of pets is much smaller and more manageable now. Charlie is my spoiled rotten Maine Coon mix, and he is clearly the king of the castle. Zeus and Bob are our Guinea pigs.
