In 2024, I visited Japan for the first time, and it instantly became my favorite destination. I fell in love with the culture, history, and atmosphere, from the timeless calm of temples to the bustling energy of Tokyo’s neighborhoods. What struck me most, though, was the kindness of the people and the everyday moments that made the trip unforgettable.

One of my favorite memories came from our very first morning in Tokyo. We had found a tiny café just down the street from our hotel, and as we sat with warm matcha in hand, the building suddenly shook with a small earthquake. It lasted only a few seconds, but in that moment I locked eyes with one of the baristas, and we both raised our hands with nervous laughter as the shaking stopped. A simple “okay…okay” crossed the language barrier, and then we all went back to our morning. It was such a small, fleeting moment, yet it summed up exactly why I fell in love with Japan: unexpected experiences, shared humanity, and the sense that even halfway across the world you can feel connected.
