About Me

My husband and I in the highlands
My husband and I in the highlands

Having visited Scotland a couple of times I have to say it is one of my favorite places.  The history, scenic vistas, the people make it a special place.

Scotland is one of those places where history, scenery, and culture all collide in the best way. The country reveals itself through two very different experiences: the elegance of Edinburgh and the wild, cinematic landscapes of the Highlands.

Edinburgh is a city that feels like a storybook you can walk through. The Royal Mile runs along an ancient volcanic ridge, connecting Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace, and every close and alleyway has a sense of age to it. The Old Town is full of medieval charm, while the New Town shows off grand Georgian architecture and wide, graceful streets. Edinburgh is easy to explore on foot, packed with great museums, and home to world-famous festivals like the Fringe. It’s a city that blends history with creativity, and you feel that energy everywhere.

The Highlands offer a completely different kind of magic. This is where Scotland’s landscapes turn dramatic—towering mountains, deep lochs, and long stretches of open moorland. Places like Glencoe, Loch Lomond and the North Coast 500 route give travelers that “wow” moment around almost every bend. The region is rich with clan history, Gaelic culture, and small communities where traditions still shape daily life. It’s also a paradise for hikers, photographers, and anyone who wants to feel far from the modern world. For travelers, the beauty of Scotland is how easily you can experience both sides: a capital city full of culture and character, and a wilderness that feels untouched and timeless. Together, they show the heart and soul of the country in a way few destinations can match.
