COUNTRIES VISITED:Spain
PLACES VISITED:Granada, Madrid, Malaga, Seville
SUGGESTED DURATION:9 Days
Holy Week, or Semana Santa as it is known in Spanish, is an important holiday in Spain. It is the week leading up to Easter, and it is accompanied with several processions every day. While there are processions in many cities, the processions in Andalusia in the south of Spain are particularly popular. It is important to book hotels early, because they can sell out fast! This is an itinerary for a family of four - 2 parents/2 children. The children are 10 and 14, so for some activities they are considered adults. For this trip, my clients booked their own airfare. I booked the hotels, trains, and some activities, which totaled $4571.86.

Arrival in Madrid
The clients will check in for 2 nights in the Apartamentos Recoletos ($549.07). I chose this hotel because it is in a great location near Retiro Park, which is a great place to spend time with kids. These are apartments with fully-stocked kitchens, if they would like to cook. There is also a pool on the roof. They will have the rest of the day to explore Retiro Park and the surrounding neighborhoods.

Explore Madrid
The clients will have an entire day to explore Madrid. They chose to leave the itinerary open to decide what they feel like doing that day. They would like to visit at least one of the 3 great art museums: Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Madrid to Seville
The clients will eat breakfast and then depart from Atocha Station on the 9:00 train to Sevilla ($217.84). They will arrive at the Santa Justa Station in Seville at 11:56. After dropping off their bags at the hotel, they will have some time to explore the neighborhood before check in at 15:00. They will be staying at azz Apartamentos Torre de la Plaza ($1283.70), a hotel that is conveniently located right in the center. At 19:00, they will attend a flamenco show ($179.56 with drinks included) at Tablao Flamenco El Arenal.

Seville & Italica
After breakfast, the clients will depart at 11:00 for a day trip to Italica ($280.85). This delightful city has many Roman ruins, as it was the first Roman city founded in Spain. Back in Seville that evening, they will attend one of the famous Holy Week processions.

Granada
Close Day
Seville & Granada
This will be an early day, as the clients will depart at 9:30 for an all-day trip to Granada. Doing day trips to other cities allows one to experience different cities without having to change hotels. Granada is a city known for its Moorish architecture and rich history.

Malaga

Seville to Malaga
The clients will enjoy a leisurely morning before departing for Málaga at 12:30. The train ($169.74) will depart from the Santa Justa Station. Unfortunately, there is no direct train to Málaga, so they will have to change trains in Córdoba. They will arrive at the María Zambrano Train Station in Malaga at 15:05. From there they will head over to the Suites del Pintor, where they will check in for 2 nights ($817.26). I chose this because it is in a great location in the center near the port and the beach. I suggest that they head to the beach for dinner while watching the sunset.

Relax in Malaga
This will be a relaxing day on the beach. Playa la Malagueta is close to the hotel. After several action-packed days, it will be nice to experience a day with nothing on the schedule. My only suggestion would be to try to see a Holy Week procession, as there should be several.
