I am an IBCCES Certified Autism Travel Professional, which means I’ve completed specialized training on autism, sensory needs, and neurodivergent travelers, & how all of that intersects with real-world travel. This certification goes far beyond a basic “special needs friendly” label. It reflects a commitment to understanding how changes in routine, crowds, noise, lighting, transitions, and unexpected disruptions can impact an autistic traveler & then building trips that take those realities seriously from the very first planning conversation.I work with autistic travelers of all ages, as well as families, caregivers, and support teams. Some of my clients are planning their very first vacation because travel has always felt too overwhelming or risky. Others are experienced travelers who simply want to work with someone who already understands sensory triggers, communication differences, and the invisible work families are doing behind the scenes. My job is to remove as many barriers as possible so that travel feels doable, predictable, and genuinely enjoyable, not like a battle to “fit in” to someone else’s idea of a vacation. As an autism-certified travel professional, I approach every trip with a safety-and-comfort-first mindset. That includes asking detailed questions about sensory preferences, communication styles, mobility needs, dietary restrictions, and past travel experiences—both good and bad. From there, I recommend destinations, resorts, cruise lines, room types, and experiences that match those needs instead of forcing you into a one-size-fits-all package. I look closely at things like crowd patterns, noise levels, access to quiet spaces, flexible dining options, and the availability of visual supports or accommodations.Planning with me also means you get a level of structure that most online booking sites can’t provide. I help create realistic daily plans with built-in downtime, backup options, and clear expectations for what each environment will be like. When helpful, I provide tools such as sample visual schedules, transition strategies, and tips for navigating security lines, transportation, and check-in with as little stress as possible. I also flag potential challenges ahead of time—like long lines, strong smells, or loud shows—so you can decide what to do, skip, or modify before you ever arrive.Behind the scenes, I advocate with suppliers on your behalf. That can include requesting specific room locations, noting sensory concerns, clarifying policies, or identifying Autism Certified or neurodiversity-aware partners whenever possible. My IBCCES training helps me ask the right questions & communicate clearly with hotels, cruise lines, and tour operators so that your needs are documented instead of treated as an afterthought or “special favor.”I also understand that autism does not look the same for everyone. Many of my clients have additional diagnoses such as ADHD, anxiety, intellectual disabilities, or medical conditions that layer onto their travel needs. I don’t assume, judge, or minimize; I listen. Whether you need step-by-step support, help preparing a traveler for new experiences, or just someone who won’t be surprised when you say, “We may need to leave early if this is too much,” I am on your side from start to finish.Communication is a big part of my role. I’m honest about what a destination or experience can & cannot offer, and I’m not interested in overselling something that won’t actually work for your family or for you as an individual traveler. I provide practical guidance about what to bring, what to expect, & how to handle common stressful moments like delayed flights, late shuttles, or crowds at check-in. When possible, I share specific tips for scripting, social stories, and regulation strategies based on the type of trip you’ve chosen.Ultimately, my goal as an IBCCES Autism Travel Certified professional is simple: to make travel more accessible, respectful, and empowering for autistic travelers and their families. I believe you deserve more than a checkbox that says “special needs.” You deserve a travel advisor who understands why the details matter, who will take your concerns seriously, and who is willing to do the extra work so that you don’t have to carry it all alone. If you’ve ever felt like travel “just isn’t for us,” I’m here to challenge that belief with careful planning, realistic expectations, and genuine support. Together, we can design trips that prioritize regulation, comfort, and joy so that you can experience the world in a way that feels safe, aligned with your needs, and truly worth leaving home for.I also view this work as ongoing, not one-and-done. I continue to update my knowledge as training, research, and industry standards evolve, so my clients benefit from current best practices instead of outdated assumptions. Every trip I plan adds to that experience, and I use what I learn to better support the next traveler who trusts me with their vacation.
