A few years ago, I visited Alaska for the first time on a cruise. The destination wasn't particularly high on my own travel bucket list but I had sent several guests there and wanted to learn more about it so that I could be better equipped if asked questions. I came back from the cruise completely smitten! From the natural untouched beauty of the landscape to the wildlife at every turn, I knew I wanted to learn more! 

So, I dove in to all of the training I could find, both online and in person. I've visited several popular destinations including Denali National Park, Talkeetna, Seward, and Anchorage and I've had the opportunity to see Alaska on land and at sea throughout the seasons. I became an Alaska Certified Expert and I'm passionate about finding the best fit for YOUR Alaskan vacation!

Now, this might be controversial but...Alaska is not for everyone! In order to truly experience the destination, I think that kids should be at least 5 years old. Why? Because there are many activities and excursions that have age limits or requirements. Can you still bring little ones if you want to? Of course! But, it will require some additional knowledge & understanding of what is available. That's where I help you find the best fit for your family! No vacation should be cookie cutter - it should be designed and curated to what YOU want to experience. No two trips should ever be identical! And if you are traveling with younger kids, my recommendations will look different vs. if you are traveling as a couple celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary. 

My best advice for Alaska? A cruise is not the only option for an amazing vacation! In fact, I encourage you to go BEYOND the cruise and I can help you make it happen! A rail vacation is wonderful way to explore or you may want to have a home base (e.g. Anchorage) and do day trips. Luckily, I have so many wonderful contacts in Alaska and I'd love to share with you some of the options for a memorable vacation!  

Plus, Alaska is an all-seasons destination! Many people have an Alaskan cruise on their travel bucket list but I am telling you - don't underestimate Alaska during the winter months, or the rest of the year for that matter! From the Iditarod races to hunting the Northern Lights or various wildlife from whales to moose to bears, you can find it all here! While it is quite family-friendly, it's not a destination for everyone but that's EXACTLY why I recommend it! You are surrounded by gorgeous landscapes and truly untouched, raw beauty. The people are welcoming and authentic and the wildlife is jaw-dropping and everywhere you look! For example, the picture on this post was taken after the moose walked right in front of our vehicle in Anchorage, Alaska. They stopped on the frozen lake and we pulled into a parking lot and were able to grab photos. It was a magical moment, one of so many during my travels to Alaska!
