Denali, Alaska

My first trip to Alaska was over 35 years ago and the wildlife and scenery of Alaska swept me off my feet. I was dropped by bush plane in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge just before the summer solstice for 10 days to backpack and experience the caribou migration. With 2/3rds of the cows having babies within a day or two of each other and were up moving with the heard. It was an amazing sight. I saw grizzlies, bald eagles just to start and I was sold on Alaska for life!

My most recent trip to Alaska was this past autumn to see the Northern Lights. We are at the peak of the solar cycle and we were rewarded with a spectacular show not too far from Anchorage. Alaska has never disappointed me. It is a special place with glorious wildlife.

 Alaska has 7 National Parks with Glacier Bay and Denali National Parks the most well known; Flightsee over an Alaska Mountain range where you will fly over mountains, glaciers and cravasses.   There are flightsee tours at Denali or Wrangell-St. Elias National Parks. Don’t forget about miles and miles of Glaciers in Glacier bay; hear and see a tidewater glacier crash into the ocean; Watch a whale their their tons of mass into the air.

See Denali and Denali National Park where you can take the Denali bus; Better yet, take a CruiseTour and spend a week cruising and include Glacier Bay to see calving glaciers, then take the train to Denali and have lodging and transportation to go much further into Denali to the best places to see wildlife (miles past the Denali bus). The land tour will then go to Fairbanks before going back or go through Dawson City, Yukon and play golf past midnight in the 24 hour sun. 

Alaska has many places to explore: Like Whale watching in Juneau or glaciers, puffins and eagles on Kenai Fjords tour. Wildlife tours abound all over Alaska with your choice of bear tours, marine wildlife  tours with otters, whales, porpoises, eagles, puffins, cormorants and much more.
