If you want to see Mt. Fuji, the best time is early in the morning when the sky is usually clear. The nearby port city of Shimizu has a lot to offer in terms of culture and attractions.

Osaka, known for being very crowded, feels surprisingly calm when you visit. The highways and train tracks are raised above the streets, so they don't get in the way of daily life.
