About Me

Luxury Travel Manager

I'm Bret Cook, a luxury and honeymoon travel advisor with Love to Travel in Overland Park, Kansas — and if there's one thing that defines how I work, it's this: I don't recommend places I haven't vetted myself.

That might sound simple, but in an industry where many advisors work from brochures and star ratings, it's actually pretty rare. Every resort, villa, and boutique hotel I recommend has earned that recommendation through my own firsthand experience or trusted on-the-ground partners I've spent years cultivating. When I tell a client a property is worth what they're about to spend on it, I mean it.

I specialize in luxury and honeymoon travel throughout Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe — from the turquoise waters of the Caribbean to the legendary castle estates of Ireland. As a Travel Pulse 40 Under 40 honoree and member of the Luxury Leaders Alliance under the Internova Travel Network, I bring more than enthusiasm to the table. My clients get exclusive amenities, preferred rates, and elite status at many of the world's finest properties — things you can't unlock by booking on your own.

If you're a Kansas City-area traveler looking for a luxury experience that's been genuinely thought through, let me answer the questions I hear most often.

Q1: What does a luxury travel advisor do that I can't do on my own?

Quite a lot — and most of it is invisible until you need it. Through the Luxury Leaders Alliance and Internova, I have preferred partnerships with the world's finest hotel brands. That translates to room upgrades, daily breakfast, property credits, early check-in and late checkout, and VIP amenities you won't find on any booking site. Beyond the perks, what I really offer is informed judgment. I know which overwater suite actually delivers on the sunset view and which villa the photos flatter a little too generously.

Q2: How do I know a luxury property is worth the price?

Exactly the right question. Price alone doesn't guarantee a luxury experience. I've walked the grounds, slept in the rooms, and sat at the tables of some of the world's most celebrated properties — Ashford Castle and Adare Manor in Ireland, Jade Mountain and Sugar Beach in St. Lucia, Hermitage Bay in Antigua, Montage Laguna Beach, W Costa Navarino in Greece, Summer Senses on Paros, The Pendry Newport Beach, and Cayo Levantado in the Dominican Republic, among others. When I send a client somewhere, it's because I'd go back myself.

Q3: What are the best destinations for a luxury honeymoon right now?

The best destination is the one that matches who you are as a couple — and my job is figuring that out. A few experiences are consistently extraordinary right now. St. Lucia is near the top: Jade Mountain's open-wall infinity suites and Sugar Beach's intimate all-inclusive are unlike anything else in the Caribbean. For more seclusion, Hermitage Bay in Antigua offers privacy and personalized service that honeymooners rave about. Greece is having a remarkable moment — W Costa Navarino on the Peloponnese and the boutique elegance of Summer Senses on Paros both feel fresh and unhurried. And for something truly historic, Ashford Castle and Adare Manor in Ireland are in a category all their own.

Q4: Are luxury advisors only for big trips, or shorter getaways too?

Luxury is less about trip length and more about the quality of every moment in it. Whether it's a ten-day European itinerary or a quick Caribbean reset, I bring the same care to every booking — because a shorter trip almost demands more precision. There's less margin for a disappointing dinner or a room that falls short when you only have four nights.

Q5: Why work with a Kansas City-based advisor instead of booking online?

Because when something goes wrong — and occasionally in travel, things do — you want a real person in your corner who knows your trip inside and out. Online platforms are built for volume. I'm built for your specific trip. My access through Internova and the Luxury Leaders Alliance is genuinely competitive — I can often match or beat what you'd find online while adding amenities no booking engine offers. And because I operate within Love to Travel, a 30-year-old Overland Park agency with deep industry relationships, you benefit from institutional credibility that takes decades to build. You're not just booking a trip. You're getting a partner invested in making it exceptional.

If you're in the Kansas City area and ready to stop settling for good trips and start taking exceptional ones, I'd love to connect. No pressure, no obligation — just an honest conversation about what you're looking for and how I can help.
