When visiting this area, my recommendation is to stay in Milan and take day trips to the surrounding areas.  I can provide tips to the best places to visit. In Milan, you will have the opportunity to see the Duomo, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Last Supper and shop in the “Fashion Capital of the world” at Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. You can visit the romantic canals of Venice, take a ride in a gondola as you are being serenaded in Italian. You can also visit Juliet’s balcony, where Romeo professed his overwhelming love to Juliet, and drop off your love letter in Verona.  Take the train or private driver to experience a tasting tour of prosciutto and balsamic vinegar in Parma and remember to buy some for the ride back to Milan.

What is the best time to visit?

The best time to visit is April- June and September - November when the weather is mild. There are not too many crowds.  The summer months are very hot and humid and very crowded with tourists. September is a great time to visit for the fashionista, as Milan’s Fashion Week usually falls around this time of year. The winters are cold and damp. 

What foods or drinks should you try?

Typical plates are Risotto alla Milanese, Ossobuco, polenta and of course pasta and pizza are a must.  Milan is known for its aperitivo culture. Iconic drinks that originated in Milan and must be tried are the Negroni Sbagliato, Gin Rosa and Il Milanese. Chinotto, a citrusy non-alcoholic drink, and espressos are another option.
