Travel by land has a way of connecting you to a destination in a much deeper, more personal way. While cruising allows you to sample the world, land travel invites you to truly experience it — the people, the culture, the history, the food, and the everyday moments that stay with you long after you return home.

Some of my most memorable travel experiences have happened while exploring destinations across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Each region has its own personality and rhythm. In Southern Africa, you’ll find a fascinating blend of modern cities, breathtaking landscapes, and unforgettable safari experiences. East Africa is rich with wildlife, Maasai culture, and some of the most incredible natural wonders on earth. West Africa offers powerful historical significance tied to the transatlantic slave trade, along with vibrant traditions, resilience, and cultural pride that leave a lasting impression. And in Morocco, history and architecture come alive through ancient medinas, colorful markets, desert landscapes, and stunning craftsmanship.

My travels through Asia and the Middle East have been equally inspiring. Japan, China, and Korea each offer a unique balance of ancient tradition and modern innovation. In the Middle East, destinations like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan reveal extraordinary hospitality, biblical history, and ancient sites that feel almost timeless. Southeast Asia remains one of my favorite regions in the world — especially Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia — where the food, culture, spirituality, and history create experiences that are both emotional and unforgettable.

What I love most about traveling by land is that it allows you to slow down and connect. You can sit in a local café, wander through markets, talk with residents, learn customs, hear stories, and experience daily life beyond the tourist highlights. These moments often become the memories that matter most.

While I’ve been fortunate to visit many countries across the globe, one thing travel has taught me is that people everywhere share many of the same hopes, dreams, and desires that we do at home.

Travel encourages patience, understanding, and acceptance of cultures different from our own. That, more than anything, is my “why” for exploring the world — not simply to see places, but to better understand the people who call them home.
